I concur that complete strangers can be horrible, but my breaking point is a bit more personal. My ex only put up with my weight insecurity probably a total of once. While I was with him I must have tried almost everything, but I kept falling into some really bad habits. Soda. Late night appetizers at Applebee's. odd sleeping patterns. Now I wish to God that this had been the moment I wanted to dump his butt, but alas my loyalty is as big as my gut when I've eaten too many salty snacks leading up to my time of the month.
We used to be into this past time called cosplaying, it's basically Halloween just not in October. Now there are very few overweight characters in anime, scifi... Really any media. Off handedly I said that I wished I could dress up as a really sexy character (I can't remember who now). So my ex lets out the "I'm exasperated with you" sigh and turns to me and says, "we'll you really can't complain about that because it's not like you're doing anything about your weight." This coming from the man who knew I was quitting soda and overheating and continued to buy 24 packs and make me pay for our boneless buffalo wings and appetizer samplers.
To all the people who posted some of their most embarrassing moments in this thread my heart goes out to you. I pray to God that you never have to hear anything like those nasty comments from someone that you are in love with, and who claims to love you "regardless". All we can do now is show them all the strength of our determination to show them exactly who they're missing out on by making snide comments.
