Food dehydrator--suggestions?

  • We just inherited a couple of food dehydrators from DH's stepmom. I was wondering what veggies people have made and enjoyed, using a dehydrator. She had made some kale that was pretty good, although I'm not a huge fan of kale.
So, what can I dry and try?

Thanks for the idea, re: turnip chips. Just FYI, I don't we are allowed beets--they are too sweet. I could be wrong, but you might want to double check that one.
  • Frozen okra dehydrates well and makes a crunchy snack. My fav is beef jerky. Hi Mountain Seasonings have some 0-0-0 seasonings that are very good. Some other posts have had some homemade seasonings listed.

  • Apples are very good.
  • I actually did quite a bit of spinach a couple of years ago and put it up in jars to keep for seasoning.

FYI - not everyone that replies to these threads is on IP so be careful of some of the suggestions. Beets and apples are definite no-nos on IP.
