Q for repeat losers...

  • If you've lost and gained and lost again, did you lose the weight in the same configuration the second time? I mean, if you seemed to be losing a lot from your belly the first time, did that happen the second, or was it not the same?

This is my second time around, the first being only about two years ago, and I *feel* like I'm losing differently. The first time it did seem to come off of my belly first and then elsewhere after the first 25 or 30 pounds. This time, it seems more like it's equally all over, which makes me feel like I can't see/feel it as much as the first time.

I wonder if this is partly (or all) hormonal. I'm 43 and I don't have any signs that I'm moving toward menopause, but maybe as you get closer your hormonal milieu changes.
  • I've lost differently each time. I'm top heavy and the last time (about 18 months ago), it took until over 30 lbs before I could move down a size in tops. This time, I had gained all but about 5 lbs back but it only took another 15 lbs before I could get back into some of my next size down tops!
  • I lose from the top down (wish I was a convertable LOL) My face and chin go 1st, then my neck and chest. My measurements show those going down more in inches % wise then my waist/large butt/thighs. This is the way I have always lost weight over the 40+ years and on the 15+ diets. Maybe its genetic?
  • Interesting!

I just thought of another related thing. Before I ever lost any weight I sat at about 193 for a good stretch. Then I went out walking with a friend and while we were walking I realized that my butt was climbing up my back! Not a good realization! So the next morning I get on the scale and I'm 203. This was a sad day that will forever be etched in my memory. BUT now I am at 185 and my butt is still way up on my back!!! This is not okay with me! It makes me look like I have no torso. I don't know when my butt started behaving itself last time I lost, but I think it did and my low then was only about ten more pounds from where I am now.
  • The only other time I took off weight (15 years ago), when I regained, I regained all over. When I lost, I lost all over - pretty symmetrically.

I gained 33 pounds from April to the beginning of January in a zig-zag pattern (up a little, down a little, up a bit more, down a bit more, up a lot over that span of time) And most of that weight went to my waist ara and most of it is coming off of my waist. THAT is a new pattern for me.
  • I am 140 right now but look the same as I did when I weighed 150 about 3 years ago (I then went up to 165). I look back at pictures from when I was 140 about 4 years ago, and I look much better then. My original goal was to get to 140, thinking that I would look the same as I did, but nope.

Gah! That's a drag! I am afraid I might be heading for the same. I tried on some clothes today that I'm pretty sure I was happily wearing at this weight last time but it seems like I have another ten pounds to go before they'll be wearable this time.
