Am I losing fat or water?

  • So I've lost 7 lbs already... I know it isn't much, but I'm just wondering, is this water or actual fat?

    I heard in the beginning of weight loss you lose mostly water, not sure how true this is though... Can anyone answer this for me? Thanks!!!
  • The answer is...probably both. While it's mostly water that comes off in the beginning, the fat starts to come off too.
  • Both--but that's what you're supposed to do!! I've read one pound of fat holds 6 pounds of water--but imagine skin that's NOT hydrated with water, and you've got beef jerky!!

    if you lose 2 pounds , then it is the loss of 70% water and 30% fat !!
    so its necessary to exercise regularly !! if you cant you get the lost weigh pretty fast !!

    (sadly, I did know we lose muscle too...)
