New girl with PCOS

  • hey everyone, I'm new to forums, but thought I could use the support.
I have always been a skinny/athletic kid, but within a year of getting my first period I ballooned from 130lbs to 180 (I'm 5'9). I have always been kind of a health food freak, and couldn't understand why I kept gaining weight even though I ate balanced meals.
At my highest just 2 weeks ago, I weighed 242lbs. It was then that I was finally diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistant. In the last two weeks I have followed a low-GI diet and am already down to 233lbs. I am now 98lbs from my goal weight of 135.
Let me know if you are also IR/PCOS and what works for you!

Sounds like we have similar stories! I found a restricted calorie diet with balanced ratios (40:30:30 carbsrotein:fat) and making sure to always pair carbs with protein or fat works for me. Oh and lots of HIIT training!
  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!
