You can probably dispute this. I live on the boarder and so I have a US mailbox that I get my stuff sent to. The first time I crossed the border with my ordered food (from DD and also Nashua) the guard asked if it was supplements or meal replacement. I told her it was meal replacement, because it is, and therefore there's no duty on it because it's considered food, not drugs, which there are stricter controls on. This guard said this had just come up in a meeting. I'd check into this if I were you.
I also order my supplements from Puritan Pride, and have it sent right to my door in Canada, and you're allowed 160.00 worth of vitamin/supplements a month import without paying duty, though PP charges and extra handling fee for having to fill out customs slips.
Honestly, I'd also suggest just placing larger orders less frequently. That's what I do, just to save on postage, which is killer.
