Why do I always over eat?

  • Im trying so hard to get the last 10 pounds off, put oh my gosh can I eat.
    I dont feel like I am binging but I know I am eating to much. I feel like this calorie cycling thing is working aganist me so I am going to go back to the old fashioned 1500 calories. Workout for 60 mins. I am going to do a quick run in the mornings aswell.
    Sort of just a rant. But this seems to happen every weekend. I go so far off track.
  • I seem to have the same problem. I always blow past my calorie limit on the weekends but do great during the week. I think one of my big problems is I got used to eating fast because I have 3 boys and I am always in a rush to get everything done and everyone where they need to go. I don't realize how much I've eaten until its too late. I really need to work on slowing down.
  • I have been trying to be obsessive about portions. I pre portion as much as I possibly can. Snacks, meals, drinks everything. I have lots of measuring cups/spoons handy. I portion my meal up at the counter and that's all I (TRY TO!!) eat. I put everything away right away too so I am not (less) tempted to have just one more bite! It doesn't always stop me from digging in the fridge 20 minutes later, but it helps.

    I have a few ?'s for you in regards to your post on overeating lately. Btw, congrats on all of your success!

    Do you eat enough fat in your diet? I'm talking healthy fat live from olive or olive oil, avocados, fish and nuts. Sometimes, eating low calories, people (myself included) forgo the fats and that may cause cravings.

    Are you eating processed foods....sugar in particular? I recently stopped the sugar almost completely and that has helped a lot. Sugar causes cravings and sometimes artificial sweeteners can cause them as well.

    Finally, I've started making green smoothies and I think all that intense nutrition has put me into a healthier mindset and made me feel better.

    I think your idea to go back to your 1600 calories is a great one! Sometimes we just need that structure.

    I haven't thought of that, sometimes I eat lots of healthy fats but 70% I do not. I do like sugar, I try to eliminate from all my foods but I may have a slightly sugar cereal a couple mornings a week. I eat lots of fruit. I have added spinach to my smoothies but i I haven't tried a whole green smoothie.

  • Maybe you can try starting your mornings with protein? You could have a few soft boiled eggs or one egg with whole grain toast and some extra virgin coconut oil spread on top....add some raw veggies for fiber (sliced up bell pepper) and that should get you off to a healthier start than the cereal. Personally, if I have any processed sugar, I end up having worse cravings throughout the day.

    Sometimes I'll just eat a greek yogurt or two string cheese for breakfast. I'm not a huge fan of dairy products but I still have them occasionally. Lately, I've been starting my day with a green smoothie. It does't have protein but I love how healthy it makes me feel:

    I don't put the hemp seeds in but you certainly could...chia seeds are great too if you want another option. I hope that helps!
