10 lbs in 6 days

  • Last Tuesday, I started my weight loss journey again. I have lost 10 lbs since then. I haven't done anything extreme. I know the first week it's not uncommon to loss a good amount and not to expect it every week but I am still excited.
  • Can I ask what you're doing? I'm trying to drop about 10 pounds in a month and I'd love advice. I've been considering liquid diet with egg substitutes and sugar free jello with doing cardio about 50 minutes a day.

  • Livelaughlove - Great first week, feels good doesn't it?

saracandoit - Um hun, that is NOT healthy Make sure you eat MINIMUM 1200 cals a day. If you want to lose 10 lbs a week keep starch/carbs low like below 100 carbs a day. Plus keep sodium below 2000 mg and drink TONS of water. This is what seems to work for most people.

Sure you can ask! All I have done is lower my calories to about 1600 a day and I exercise about 15-30 minutes. It's nice to lose weight quickly but I really would recommend that you do something you think you can do for a lifetime. It's a lifetime commitment if we are going to beat obesity!

    Thanks..It does feel great!!
  • That's great! And I see you answered the question as to how you are doing it, and it sounds safe and healthy!! I too dropped the first 10 pounds "in a heartbeat" and yes, it does slow down but enjoy it while it lasts, ha ha.

    Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I'm definitely enjoying it, it is a huge motivator.
  • Great work, livelaughlovesunshine! It's so motivating having that big drop at the beginning. Keep doing what you are doing!!

Saracandoit, I agree with smsdreamer2007! Please don't hurt yourself trying to do something so low calorie. Check out all the forums here, you will see you will actually lose more weight eating a 1200-1500 calorie diet rather than doing something harmful like your plan. Your body needs food for energy! Good luck with your weightloss. Post again if you need more help.
  • Congrats on your loss! I also had a great first week (14 pounds the first week), but the losses slow down quick (I lost 6 pounds the second week, for a total 20 down in 2 weeks). After the first 2 weeks, I hope to settle in for an average of about 2-5 pounds a week; then it's a matter hanging in there and staying consistent.

That might seem like a lot, but I am losing at this rate because I also weight train (hard core) with a trainer 3x a week, along with an hour of cardio every day. I eat somewhere between 1200-1600 calories a day to give me the energy and protein I need for those workouts. I am very muscular for my frame; even at my highest weight (325) I had a body fat percentage of 34%. Most women my age, height and weight are usually much higher (55%+). That means I can burn fat pretty quickly, as long as I don't out-eat my metabolism--which unfortunately I'm very good at doing.

Congrats again on your initial weight loss; just think, even at 1 pound a week, that's 52 pounds in a year, and that's a lot!
