Newbie with a goal

  • Hi everyone! I'm new on this site, but I'm not really new to dieting at all. I was always a chubby kid and mainly because of teasing of other kids I went on my first diet when I was 13. They were mostly short term and effective, but only for a while. I would lose a lot of weight and then gain it back even quicker. I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with this too. I've tried almost everything by now. I'm only 19 and I think I've tried out around 20 types of diets lol that's bad. My main problem is that I'm an emotional eater and with me moving often and being a medical student, I tend to binge eat a lot, especially before exams. Exercise is mostly nonexistent, as I barely have time for sleep let alone time for gym. Now that I hit my ultimate high of 195 pounds, I have decided it's definitely time for a change.
I have made my own home version of weight watchers and I'm trying to follow the whole point system. This is my day 3 so far and I love it! I already feel so much better and the water weight is going down. Hopefully, this will be a program I will stay on for longer. My goal weight is 145 and I know I have a long way to go. This is just another attempt to motivate myself. Because in the end I deserve it. I even make short daily notes on evernote with motivational pictures lol. But it helps me stay on track.
  • That's awesome that you've started up a system that makes you happy.
Hopefully you'll learn a lot of things about weight loss on here and be able to optimize your diet and make it even more effective. Plus you'll always find support here when you're on the down-low.
    Welcome!
  • Welcome! I just joined this month too and love this forum. There is a board for binge eating and the like. Chicks in Control. You can lose weight without much exercise, it just might be slower and there is the risk of losing muscle. Myself, I only walk about 40mins/day just cuz I hate most forms of exercise. I guess I'll have to step it up at some point but for now I just eat less than someone who is exercising. It's getting the right ratio, I guess. Anyhow, welcome!
  • As a student myself, I feel your pain!!! Busy schedules, constant study hours... no time for anything!
I'm new too, and I really don't have much advice, but I really admire what you're doing, and want to give you the bestest wishes of luck!!!
  • Glad you have found a method you like
