Will my stomach adjust to this?

  • I'm eating more regularly that I was before I started counting, I'm also eating higher quality foods, but I'm hungry!
I'm giving myself some leeway for tough days, staying between 1200-1400 calories a day, lots of protein...
will my stomach get used to this and stop growling, or is it going to be like this forever?
  • yes, you will adjust. in the meantime... have a glass of water.. and maybe add in more fiber?
  • Your calorie intake seems a bit low for your height and weight. Have you tried using a BMR or calorie intake calculator to calculate how much you need to eat?
  • I agree with Baker, I'm the same height as you, and I started out at 211. My calorie intake is normally between 1500-1700. I have had a couple higher days but for the most part I've been good. I don't normally feel hungry and those extra 200-300 calories make a big difference in that. I've also lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks.
  • I wasn't sure those calculators were accurate... but I'll check them out. I just wanted to make sure my calories were low so I can lose.
I figured I could go to 1500 once I started exercising...
I have been drinking plenty of water and are consuming between 23-31g of fiber a day

    thanks for the replies
  • Yes, your stomach will adjust.

    Good luck on your journey!
  • re:
It did adjust for me maybe after a month or so, however, any extended period of time off plan (maybe 3 days or so) or anything high in carbs or sugar tends to "reset" the growling and hunger feelings.

Personally I find that anything less than 1,500 cals leaves me hungry and lacking focus. I've used 1,500 as my weight loss figure since age 16 and, at age 55, it still works (though a bit more slowly). Perhaps you can try it and see what happens.
