Lbs but no inches?

  • I've lost about 6lbs but no inches. Is this normal?
  • Oops, I needed to edit to change my original reply: Oh, I see your signature. You probably lost more weight than 6 pounds, because you probably gained muscle with all that working out, which muscle weighs more than fat. Sometimes it takes a while to see inches lost because weight off is taken at random places from the body. Don't worry, it's completely normal and you will see inches coming off soon!
  • When taking measurements, have to make sure that you're in the exact same spot, I don't really count inches, just lbs lost, and how my clothes fit. Keep up the good work!
  • Thank you! I'm excited about the weight coming off I guess I just keep thinking how can you lose weight but not inches
  • Because you would have to measure every section of your body to ultimately say you're not losing inches.

I lose weight in my feet and hands first (!) -- my waist is the last place I lose weight. I tend to lose faster in my upper body, less fast around my thighs and hips.

So, if I am only measure my waist or hips, it would seem like I'm not losing inches at all, but I am losing weight. Or vice versa -- I can "gain" weight and it doesn't affect my size.

Sadly, we lose weight where our body wants us to lose weight first, not where we WANT to lose weight. Other people lose weight in the chest, first, for example! Thankfully, I don't.

Yup, I noticed in my feet first. I actually thought something was wrong with my ankle at first. Then I started to notice in my neck & chin. I've lost 1.5" from my thighs. Almost 15 lbs later and only 0.5" in the waist & nothing in the hips.
  • Very good to know... I have only been measuring neck waist and hips
