short chubby girls and leggings

  • Ok, I've gotta put it out there...who has success with being petite and "round" and being able to find something that looks good with leggings? I have googled it and not come up with any cute styles. I am an apple shape and it seems my challenge is to find something that is the right length (not too long, not too short) to wear with leggings. Leggings are so comfortable. My weight is up and down it seems right now. It's be easier than going out to buy new pants and jeans. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  • I actually love old navy's leggings, they're durable and seem to fit me through my weight loss to now.

Instead of going into the womens plus section, I find that with being petite, maternity wear seems to fit my body a bit better. Try their softest sweater tunic with some leggings and ankle boots.
  • Oh thanks! Ya, know I agree. I have bought some maternity wear at Target and Kohls that I like the way it fits. No one would ever know. That's a great idea and I will try that. Not sure about the sweater tunic. With being an apple shape, I need something to give me the look of a waist. And empire waist dresses def. make me look preggers, since my belly is the biggest part of me. Leggings are so comfortable tho. I want to find a way to wear them other than the one way I have tried, which was with a short black skirt and black sweater.
  • Short, tunic-style dresses?

I don't wear leggings but have really enjoyed wearing dresses with opaque tights lately. I tried on this dress last weekend at the local Lane Bryant and LOVED it. It runs a bit big, I think, since the 22-24 fit me well.

Anyway, it was really short on me and I am 5'4". Mid-thigh in the middle, perhaps? And would be great with leggings. They had a bunch of other short sweater dresses and tunics that would work with leggings, too.

Oh, or handkerchief hem tunics. I really like them, but you need fitted bottoms to wear with them or they just look schlumpy.
