Tom

  • Hey fellow IP ladies,

I have a question regarding IP and TOM. My coach mentioned that you could get your TOM randomly while on IP. I am on BC and my TOM has always been the same time usually, maybe 1 or 2 days different. Well, I was 2 weeks into IP and my TOM came a week early and it seems to be continuing.

Anyone else had some weird things changing when it comes to TOM?
  • Mine came two weeks into IP and hasn't gone away, and it's been almost a month and a half!

That is just crazy. I read something on that ... but I didn't think it would stay. I was hoping that maybe it might last a little longer or what not, but not stay
  • I've had the Mirena IUD for 3+ years and I rarely get a period anymore. If I do, it's usually a couple spots for a day and that's it. The first time I got my TOM after starting IP, I didn't notice a difference. The second time however, I spotted off and on for almost a week. Other than that, no weird changes.
  • The 2nd through the 4th month I've been on IP, I was lucky if I WASNT on my period. I talked to several coaches about this and reactions went from "I was an alien" to "that happened to me too!" After going to the lady dr. several times, he said the same thing - it's the diet.

One coach in particular who worked at a woman's hospital, said that some docs put women on this diet who are trying to get pregnant and haven't been able. So IP def. messes with the TOM.

I finally had enough and switched to Ortho Tri Cyclen BC and things are starting to go back to normal for me! Give it another month and if it doesn't even out for you, maybe think about switching pills? Good luck!
  • When I started IP I did not have a TOM for 6 weeks. Now 3 weeks later its here again! So I guess it will just be a little uncertain. Does anyone know if this continues after Phase I?

  • Don't forget to use an extra form of BC because the pill won't be as effective while on IP!
  • Thanks all!! Who knows. I just prefer the "knowing", rather than not knowing!! But, hey if I am losing weight and getting healthy, I am just peachy!!!
  • Mine never became more frequent, but were extended 1-2 days longer. What I noticed was that they were very, very heavy... like, I should buy stock in tampon companies... I started maintenance in December of last year and they are still very, very heavy for the first 3 days, then lighter for the other 4. Yes, I still have 7 days of TOM since I started IP.
I've spoken with friends who also did IP and they all have similar issues, even after being in maintenance for some time.

Consult your OBGYN ASAP! This is abnormal! The underlying cause may be due to something other than your change in diet (like fibroids). Please take care of yourself.
  • month 2. normally i have a consistently 28 day cycle. came in 2 weeks early
