Nearing 50 & OMG!!!! Too heavy!!!!

  • I'm about to have my 48 birthday & I'm probably 100 lbs overweight. I decided just last week that I can't continue living this unhealthy.
I've lost weight before. I know what I need to do, but I sometimes seem to lack the drive/willpower. I know it's going to be a long haul. There is no magic pill to fix being overweight & unhealthy, but then if there were I don't think our society would have so many diets & gyms out there.
So far about all I've really been able to work on it changing some of my eating habits (cutting out junk food, sweets, eating more fruits/veggies), drinking more H2O & nearly cutting out all sodas.
I'd love to start exercising again...my primary exercise was last time I lost all my weight was walking. I love walking! It's cheap, it can be done without going to a gym & it helps me clear my head. I unfortantely pulled a tendon in my foot it's odd cause it seemed like it happened right when I decided to change my life for something more healthy.
So I'm lifting light weights to work on my arms, doing stretches & some floor exercises. It's frustrating cause I know I need to more more, but I do not want to aggravate this injury...I've injured tendons before & it's a loooong healing process.
For more on what's going on in my world. Check my blog which I plan to start working on this evening. Thanks!
Oh, I'd love to find encouraging friends! I promise to do the same for you! I know I can do this again...1 step, 1 day, 1 meal at a time. Thanks!
  • I know how you feel, I sprained my ankle last year and it STILL bothers me when I do too much. I'm beginning to think I did something more serious to it.

On the other hand losing weight has helped it quite a bit too. On the up side you can lose all the weight with dieting ... IF you are strict with yourself.

  • Just a thought... if you have access to a pool you can get great low impact exercise by swimming and water workouts
