Newbie, couple of quick questions

  • Hi There!
I'm on day 3 of IP, and am excited to be doing this. I watched a co-worker lose 90 pounds in less than 9 months, and decided this is what I need to be doing! I've had some headaches, light-headedness and feeling just generally icky, but hopefully that will go away quickly. That being said, I'm amazed that I'm not hungry!
    Questions:
    1. What the heck is the crispy cereal? Real cereal? Alternative breading? I'm just wondering, don't know if I'll try it or trade it.
    2. Looking through one of the other threads, I saw someone mention a Big Mac in a cup. Any idea what that is? I assume it has to include a special sauce...what would that be?
Thanks in advance and I look forward to gettin go know some other IPer's out there!

  • Welcome! The crispy rice tastes like rice krispies. If you try it, it is best with really cold water. I like it as it satisfies a need to chew by breakfast. But you will find that we all have very different tastes. Plus your taste buds will change as you go through the program.

Welcome! Regarding the dizziness/lightheadedness, you could be lacking salt. Try licking some off of your hand and see if that helps - I used to drop 1/2 tsp into my water and chug it down - gross, but I felt SO much better!

The crispy cereal is a Rice Krispies knockoff, with a little powdered milk in it. It kinda has a protein-aftertaste to it, I didn't like it the first few weeks but now it doesn't bother me. It also can be crushed up and mixed with egg white, baking powder and water to make a pretty tasty pancake!

Big Mac in a Bowl is heaven Here's my recipe:

    Lettuce
    1 cup chopped dill pickles
    1/2 cup tomato
    1/4 cup diced red onion
    1/4 cup diced cucumber
8oz ground beef, browned and crumbled
Walden farms Russian (or Thousand Island) dressing

    Best. Salad. Ever.
  • I made Big Mac in a bowl for the first time tonight, it was so yummy! I posted a pic of my creation on FB and Twitter and everyone was like "Eww that looks gross!" But it definately tasted like a Big Mac and curbed my burger craving

You have got to try the crispy cereal pancakes! It became a staple in my diet and I ate them at least 4 times a week.

1 pkg. crispy cereal crushed with a rolling pin
    1 tsp Stevia
    1/2 tsp cinnamon
    1/4 tsp baking powder
    Mix these dry ingredients together
In a bowl beat 2egg whites until frothy
Add 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 1 tbs of water
Combine the wet and the dry ingredients
In a non stick pan sprayed with Pam
Make 3 pancakes. Cook until golden brown on both sides and serve with WF pancake syrup
    Heaven on a plate!!!!
  • I think the crispy cereal made as intended is edible, but it's not my favorite. I've heard if you put some WF choc syrup in there, it's miraculously like Cocoa Krispies though

I bake my crispy cereal -- crush it up, 2 egg whites, pinch of baking powder, a bit of WF choc syrup or choc dip (I never need the whole 2Tbs), then put it into non-stick muffin tins for 10min at 350. They puff up then collapse a bit when you pull them out of the oven, but they satisfied my muffin craving!
