First off I will start by sang it has been a week from that hot firey place we don't wanna end up! Work has been beyond stressful, I just started a college class which although I TOTALLY LOVE...it is onemore thing on an already overloaded plate.

So maybe it is just my me...but I thought this was RUDE!

"T" the lady that cleans at the company I work for also happens to be my daughter's boyfriend's mother. Our kids have been dating for 3 years, I know her pretty well. I don't like her near as well as I know her.

ANYHOW...she comes in to clean today and she is carrying an ice cream pail full of warm, fresh monster cookies and is giving everyone cookies. She know I am dieting. (She is also one of those people that make comments about people who are overweight. BTW she is seriously underweight) She comes in my office and asks if I would like some fresh warm cookies. The smell fills my office! I said, "No Thank You, I am staying away from the goodies."

To that she laughs and says, "Good for you! I wasn't going to let you have any, I just wanted to see how strong your will power is, you passed!"

Does she think she's FUNNY??? I sure don't! Granted I have been a bit moody, but that IMO is just spiteful!

Sounds like you need to lighen up. Unless she said it in a snide way I think it was meant as humor and praise. Sounds like a nice person to me.

Just my opinion and you asked.

I have in mind this skinny middle aged woman with lots of wrinkles. She has a cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other. She might have leathery skin from too much sun. No class. Like "Maxine", but not funny.

Hard to say what she really has in mind, but she sure does sound annoying.

I am cracking up about how nice John sounds and what a B.... I sound like! Funny what you can make out of just a small bit of information.

Gail- your mental image of her is spot on!! She is mid fifties, and looks closer to 70. She is roughly 5' 7" and weighs a whopping 102 pounds. She chain smokes even though she has COPD and uses oxygen multiple times a week. And spends her evenings in the bar despite having been through treatment 3 times.

I have also heard her (many times) call both her son and grandson things like "Chubs"," Dough Boy", and "Tubby" and you could see by look in their eyes they did see it as a term of endearment.

I am so glad her son is NOTHING like her!

John- as I started the post, I have been uptight this week! Although she didn't use the words "Nanner nanner Boo boo" when she said "Good for you! I wasn't going to let you have any, I just wanted to see how strong your will power is, you passed!" The tone was there!

Women know better than to pull this kind of crap on someone. Sorry John, men don't and hence - don't get it - of course a man probably wouldn't have done such a catty thing either... I would have just told her what I thought of her little "check up" practice and be over it.

Don't give her any of your energy ... you need it for better things.

I would let it pass. But by what you describe she is an unhappy lady.

Don't let her get to you. You have alot going for you AND she knows it.

Maybe a little jealousy there too. (People probably sing your praises around her...i.e. her son, coworkers) The ONE thing she thought she had over you (weight) is now going to be a non-issue. I suspect that she will continue with the little jabs but take it as an encouragment.

The more she makes her little comments that proves the better you are doing!!

Sorry you had to deal with someone like that! Men just don't understand that when one woman says something like that to another that the first woman is being a catty beotch...

I agree with everyone else who is saying that she's probably jealous of how other people talk about you. So while it might make you grind your teeth with frustration--think about how you will not look all wrinkled and leathery when you get to where you want to be so you will look a lot better than she will. That's karma at work!

It's true I'm not a woman and for sure I don't understand women!

When I think of a person coming through the office and giving people cookies I think that it is a nice person and not an evil biotch hoping to make everyone in the office fat.

Next time someone trys to hand me a cookie though ... they better watch out!

LOL at John...it's not that she had the cookies and was offering them to people because she was probably being genuinely nice about it. It was her catty comment that made what she did beotchy...women know not to do things like this to each other when dieting because it's really a form of sabotage.

I must think like a dude LOL, because my friends joke like this with me when they know I've vowed to not eat something and I find it hilarious how they walk by me while taking a bite in slow motion, then asking, "want some?" LOL The way I see it is...I'm the only person that can sabotage me. So I take the humor for what it is.

Yeah - but they're your friends ... that's different. We're allowed to poke at each other!
