Brazilian Wax

  • Has anyone ever had a brazilian wax? Does it hurt? I'm thinking about having it done.
  • Yep, I've had one LAgreeneyes! Actually, I've done it a few times. For me it doesn't really hurt. It is uncomfortable so I take a couple of ibuprofen before the process. A lot will depend on the skill of your esthetician. Look online at the places you're considering having it done and read the reviews, or if you have friends who've had it done, ask them for recommendations. I go to a small day spa and the environment is really quiet and peaceful which helps me remain calm. My esthetician will talk to me during the process and it usually takes no more than 15-20 minutes. I've done it over my lunch hour. Another tip is to trim 'down there' before you go. I have found that to be really helpful in reducing the discomfort.

I really enjoy the 'clean feeling' after it is done. Some women don't . If it weren't for the cost I probably would have it done more often.

    Good luck!
  • curvynotlumpy, that is a great review. Now, let me ask you a VERY stupid question. So, I have to be fully naked "down there". So it's like going to the gynecologist? The person will be seeing ALL of my private area? I know it's a dumb question but I had to ask.

At the place i went to I was covered with a sheet over my legs and a paper square type thing over the parts she was not currently waxing (if she was working on the left side, then my right was covered and so on). She is still seeing all of your business, but you feel slightly less exposed.
  • Oh, my pleasure and that's not a stupid question at all! Yes, you will be naked from the waist down but your esthetician should provide a towel to drape over your tummy, or if she doesn't, you can certainly ask for one. Yes, she will see everything but remember this is her occupation and is all in a day's work. Also, she has the same 'parts' so she's seen it all before--no surprises there This might sound odd or funny but because of our various nooks and crannies my esthetician will sometimes ask for me to hold a particularly difficult to get to area taught while she waxes. I find being part of the process helps alleviate any embarrassment I might have.

As a good friend of mine suggested to me before my first Brazilian, "be prepared to leave your dignity at the door". Indeed!
