Thin for life- week of April 7, 2003

  • Hi everyone!

I hope you all had a nice weekend and are enjoying your Monday! It seems really quiet here. I spent Friday in Washington DC and the weekend on the Eastern Shore of MD and flew back this am from DC. All I can say is zzzzzzz. For all of you in the NY, PA and Chicago area all I can say is ... yech on the snow.

I had a nice time at a spa this weekend, had a facial, read some books, enjoyed some brisk weather and wished I had left the resort to see the shore. Oh well, next time. I did drive through Bethesda and viewed some amazing cherry blossoms. They are truly spectacular.

Now I am back at work and soo happy to be home. I am trying to get back on the straight and narrow. I do hope it works. I am sort of setting a goal of getting back down to my shorts weight (7 or 8 lbs down) by Memorial Day. I'm hoping with some clean living, lack of international travel and a change in my exercise regime something will give.

    How is everyone else?

  • Hi, lala. The Eastern Shore is so pretty and I totally agree about the cherry blossoms. They are amazing.

Had a great weekend--the Haydn concert went very well.

At WI last night, lost 4 pounds, so I was very happy. DH was jealous as he had gained on his WI. He's running a marathon later this month, so he has nothing to worry about.

Very warm here today--high 80's. Going to a wine and cheese tonight which should be fun.

    Hello to SaskieMom, Seasaw, Melissa.
  • Hi everyone!

I'm finally getting caught up after last week. I actually feel "normal" today. It didn't help having the time change along with the funeral, etc. It was very tiring to say the least.

The weather here has been extremely cold (30's) and we've had snow, freezing rain, and ice. On an up-note the temps are supposed to be getting warmer over the next several days and we might actually see some sun!

I totally missed my meeting last week and couldn't squeeze in any others. I went today and was down .2; I'm happy with that especially since TOM is due to arrive any time now. Next week should be better. The weird part is that last week I barely was able to get my minimum and my body probably went on a revolt.

In any case things are getting back to normal (or as normal as they can be) and I'm hoping to get some housework caught up. It's hard to believe that next weekend is Easter! Anyone have any plans? We have off from work Thursday-Friday and Monday so it'll be a nice long weekend.

DH is having knee surgery on 28th--from what they can tell from the MRI he has a tear with the MCL (?) and they don't know if there's anything with the ACL. I'm sure they'll know more when they go in. He's having arthroscopic so the recovery rate should be fairly quick.

Domina: Congratulations on the weight loss!
  • Melissa, thanks. I had gained some, so this was welcome news.

Wow--time off for Easter; how nice! We will get 1/2 day on Good Friday.

Sorry about DH's knee. I never heard of an MCL (heard of the ACL). The good thing is that knee surgery has come a long way.

Again, I can't believe your weather. When will this winter end? What are the forecasters saying about your summer?

  • Hi ya ladies,

    Domina-
congrats on that loss! wowza. I'm glad the concert went well and DH will take that weight off quickly.

Melissa- I'm glad to see you back. How is everyone doing?

As for easter, we're doing the saturday children easter egg hunt chez lala and sunday, an adults easter egg hunt and brunch. I'm overwhelmed by the combination of intellectual erudite adults who can't handle children and the children who can't handle the adults, so I decided to separate them this year. I think I'll appreciate the children more.

My mother's great aunt passed away on Friday very suddenly. My parents are here this week, we buried her yesterday and tomorrow is the memorial. It was very hard to see all her cousins in such grief yesterday. All of her friends are older and frail and couldn't even attend the service. Its pretty sad, but a blessing that she passed so peacefully.

Other than that, nothing new. My taxes have been prepared and due to some stuff that wasn't put in my 2000 and 2001 taxes, I am owed a huuuuge refund. I am going to bank it, but the idea of putting a down payment on a new volvo station wagon is looking really really good to me.

Sorry for the long message. I'll talk to you guys tomorrow.
