Ounces of Meat

  • I know that the IP Phase 1 has been edited along the way to include more ounces of meat a day. I'm curious though about how many ounces of meat most of ya'll are actually eating day to day.

Currently I eat 8 ounces of every type... be it lean red meat or fish.
  • Same here 8oz regardless of what it is. I normally stick to beef, fish maybe once every 2 weeks, and chicken once a month or so.
  • I eat 7-8oz depending how hungry I am. I eat everything beef, chicken, fish, pork and shrimp! I'm a MEAT eater and if we weren't allowed to have a generous portion I probably would cheat through the day!
  • i always get my 8 ounces in...however, sometimes i have to shift 2 oz to lunch or a snack as i find 8 oz at a time WITH the 2 cups veggies fills me up too much and makes me feel sluggish the rest of the evening. i tend to stick with 6-7 ounces in the evening and 1-2 ounces sometimes during the day.
  • That's a good idea Rainbow! I didn't think about breaking it up! I'm sooo gonna copy you!

be sure to check with your coach first!!! i don't want to suggest anything that a coach might not be ok with.
  • I've split my proteins up before when needed. And I ALWAYS have my full 8oz! Be it chicken, beef, fish, whatever. I know there was talk before about perhaps upping the tofu allotment above 8oz since it has less protein & calories per serving than animal products. But I only eat protein that had a face so I can't speak to that.
  • i usually eat a full 8oz.
  • Ya'll are awesome! Thanks for the responses and different takes on what/how you eat. Keep them coming!
  • Hi there

I eat 8 ounces, and break it up. I have 3-4 ounces at breakfast and the rest with dinner. Hannaford has a chicken 'sausage' that includes skin free white meat chicken, water, salt, and spices! (so it's really just chicken) and it's awesome to mix up 3-4 ounces of this with the herbed omlet. It actually makes a HUGE breakfast.

I enjoy angus beef - but i find there is rarely weight loss the day after beef- i think it takes longer to digest. So, i do as my coach suggests and keep beef to twice a week.

When in a hurry, i eat a real egg - 2 ounces of protein. But that is a high cholesteral day, so i try not to do that too often.
  • I also break up my meat servings, half at lunch and half at dinner. I'm not a huge meat fan and 8 oz at once was very hard for me to do. I've found that by splitting it up I am less hungry in the afternoon and less inclined to cheat because I'm starving. That way I can enjoy an IP supplement in the afternoon and evening. ( love my snacks!)
  • I eat 8oz of any type at dinner. I've sometimes split it up to eat 2oz as a snack. I get SO hungry during the day, though. Thinking of splitting it up a bit more to add some protein at breakfast.
  • GEE...I've been short-changing myself! I've been eating 5 oz or so a day, I think I might increase then, and splitting it up would be great! Great question, I was wondering about this very same thing!
  • I always have the 8oz no matter what the meat or fish I am having. I never split it up as I really have learned to wait for dinner and thats the only meal I get and really enjoy it. I feel "good" for a few hours after dinner and just not willing to part with that feeling!

Tofu noodles: 8oz is 40 cal of the ones I use, and I limit to twice a week.

    Beef: I have sirloin steak 1 time a week, usually on weigh-in day's dinner...and I have 95% lean ground round 1 time a week.

    Cheers
    Jake
  • I usually have about 6 ounces at dinner - that's really as much meat as I ever wanted at dinner even before IP. I eat fish as often as I can get it - especially swordfish and sea bass. Probably 3 days each week.

I usually don't feel that I need any earlier in the day.
