I went to have a mammogram yesterday and they found some calcifications that look suspicious. I'm having a biopsy done next Wednesday, and I'm scared. I don't know of any woman in my family that's had breast cancer, but a lot of people in my family have died of other types of cancer. I'm praying it's nothing serious, but the doctor who works at the diagnostic place told me that on the films and the ultrasound it looks like some type of cancer. She did the ultrasound right after the mammogram. I'll have to wait until next Wednesday to have the biopsy because they are booked until then, so I probably won't have the results until two weeks from now.

I am so sorry she told you that before getting the offical results, I know it can be harder to wait and now nothing but saying it looks like some type of cancer and not knowing 100% is worse IMO

Hopefully its just a scare. In the mean time, work on alkalizing your body. There are studies and doctors that swear by it. Cancer strives in acidic bodies. It will die otherwise. Please let us know how it goes.

Please know that younger breast tissue is denser and therefore more prone to false positives on mammograms. I am not sure of your age, but I am hoping this is nothing. When I was 13, I watched a show about breast self exams, and promptly did one. I immediately thought I was going to die because my breasts were absolutely loaded with lumps. After going to the doctor, I was reassured I was not, in fact, going to die, and actually had benign adenomas. I am now 30 years old, and still have the same lumps. But I agree that it is totally unprofessional to say something "looks" like cancer without having a biopsy to prove it. The ONLY way to figure out what cells are doing is to examine them microscopically!!!! And please have at least 2 pathologists examine the sample. Take care of yourself, and make sure to talk to someone about this, even if it's just a friend. I know this is scary, but I am sending positive thoughts your way.

I can back up what Brandis said!! Take a deep breath. At the age of 22 I had my annual gyno visit where he does a manual exam and he found some suspicious lumps. I had a mammogram which showed suspicious lumps/tumors...so then I had an ultrasound. Initially they said they were concerned that it was possibly cancer but that I could just have highly dense cystic tumors (a trait of young breasts). I had 2a options-biopsy or self-monitor. I chose to self monitor (IN NO WAY AM I ADVOCATING FOR YOU TO NOT GET YOUR BIOPSY-PLEASE DO WHAT YOU FEEL IS BEST) and each year the tumors stayed the same size, fast forward to 2 years ago after breastfeeding my son the tumors are GONE.
PLEASE don't panic, wait for your results. There is no way for.them to know it is cancer without the biopsy results. I hope everything turns out to be normal.

I got the results today, and it turns out that it is cancer. I'm feeling very overwhelmed. I'll have to start thinking about possible treatments tomorrow since feeling very tired right now. Please pray for me and my kids.

*Hugs* I'm so sorry...At least you caught it so that it can be treated. My boyfriend's sister was diagnosed in March and already finished her chemo treatment. She's doing awesome so far, so hopefully you'll do as well fighting yours. Try to stay positive, as hard as that is.

I hope you got some rest. The good news is that you know you have it and you can work with your doctors to determine what's the best treatment for you. I'm sorry you're going through this though -- I really wish it had been a scare!

Thanks for the support ladies. I feel like my head is spinning and it won't stop. I have an appointment to see a breast specialist on Monday after work. I hope she can explain more. Right now all I know is that I have cancer, but I'm not really sure how bad it is. This is going to be a long weekend.
