The scale my husband and I use changes SO much! If it was just .2 pounds here, or .4 pounds there, I would be fine. BUT this morning I got on the scale for the first time and it said I weighed 205. Then the second time it said 207.4. It does this for my husband as well. I'm going to go out and buy a new scale TODAY. We just started counting calories 3 days ago, so i think we will be okay with the scale change. Anyway, can you all help me out!?

After experiencing similar problems with a digital scale that gave widely variant readings, I invested in an old fashioned balance beam scale. The thing is big but it's accurate to a quarter of a pound.

I have a balance beam type scale, too! I bought it after I got fed up with my previous digital and analog bathroom scales being so inaccurate. It wasn't really necessary at all... but I considered it an investment in my peace of mind, lol.

Other than that, digital scales always seem to be more inaccurate than the analog kind to me, since you can't re-calibrate them.

I have a "Biggest Loser" digital scale. It is accurate (meaning it gives me consistent readings.) I check it with dumbbells every so often, 35 and 50 pounds and it is accurate there too. You might also try changing the battery, making sure its not on carpet or a slanted floor, and making sure dust bunnies aren't clinging to the feet (which happens to mine sometimes.)

I use a Health-O-Meter from Walmart. It registers the same weight 3 times in a row.

I use the Health-O-Meter too. I got the one that takes the regular old 9 volt battery. I love it so far.

If the ground isn't flat or the battery is going bad, you'll get inaccurate readings.

I have the same balance beam scale as Hatgirlie. I am a little peeved at it because it doesn't think I have lost any weight...It also weighs me the same morning, noon and night. I never had a scale that did that. Seriously, I am happy with it. Nothing can go wrong with it, and in the long run, it will be accurate.

That's the same one I have. I really like it even though it does take up a chunk of space in my bathroom.

I have a Tanita scale. The accuracy is good because i tested it by weighing myself on it and than getting weighed for a bod pod test, spot on. The only problem is that there is no decimal.. so you can't see if you lost 1/2 a lb.
The fat % and lean muscle % wasn't too far off as well.

I have a digital Weight Watchers scale from Target. It works great and it only cost about $30.

ETA: I agree with the poster who said to make sure your scale is level.

I also have a Tanita brand digital scale ( mine does show decimals ) that I bought at Bed Bath and Beyond 8 years ago and it is still going strong...love it and it is very accurate, highly recommend the brand.

I like it a lot...I've had it for 3 years and have had no problems with it. If I step on it 3 times in a row, it always gives the same weight.
Prior to that I had a cheap Health-O-Meter. It was consistent too, and I liked it. It only lasted about a year and a half though, then crapped out, wouldn't work even after replacing the battery. It only cost $15 though, so I wasn't too upset about it!
I agree with everyone else, make sure it's level, not on carpet, etc. It really does make a difference.

I don't think it is me. My husband has the same issue with this scale. This is one of those glass/metal scales. The weight capacity is 350, so I don't think that is the issue.
