I love my hair long, altho I have had many short(er) cuts thru-out my life, (I kept my hair ear-lobe short in college) - I have always been of the idea that long hair is very feminine, and that pony tails are "youthful" etc... and I've strived for my "dream hair" for yearsssssss (meaning that long flowing mane that makes a girl famous in shampoo commercials!) Well, last week, I decided that since I am bulldozing my way to 50 and was just TIRED of all the upkeep/maintenance of long hair, on a whim, I had FIVE INCHES lopped off.

I'm still NOT at my goal weight (beginning to wonder if that will EVER happen)... so I do still want to lose another 15-20 lb. But oh well... What do you think?

Beautiful and sophisticated! Your hair is so glossy and lays so smooth. I write this as I contend with my unruly curls The cut frames your face so well and it is a happy compromise between really short and long. I think you gave yourself a lot of style options with this cut, BP!

I am having the same issue, I have a hair stylist appointment scheduled for Thursday and I plan on cutting about 4 inches.

You're quite the babe! And I like that length - it looks long enough to pull back if it's in your way but short enough to be less of a hassle. That's the length I'd like to get to, but my hair is wavier and starts to look like crap if it gets anywhere near shoulder length.

WOW! Thanks everyone!!! I was very surprised to get the "shiny/healthy" hair comments - I color the dickens outta my hair (have been since I was 15 years old!) and with summer fun (sun, beach, pool, etc) & now with menopause & all that, my hair has REALLY taken a beating. I'm always fighting frizz, super-dryness, split ends, etc, so it was very nice to come here & read the shiny/healthy comments!!

And the members here at 3FC always make me feel like turning 50 is light years away (sigh! ) I'm celebrating my 49th in a couple weeks... my last year in my 40's.... HEAVY SIGH! But when you get comments about looking so young, etc, it is VERY LIFTING! - So thanks for all the positive reviews!!!!
