I'm trying this diet out as a last resort. I have PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), and I'm hoping that losing weight will alleviate some of my symptoms. Also, low carb usually does wonders for women with PCOS and insulin resistance.
Has anyone here had a good experience in that department?
I'm in the same boat as you. It's doing great things for me and my Insulin Resistance. But I've only been on it for 6 weeks. All I can attest to is some serious hormonal changes going on (and I believe actual ovulation occurred this month)!
Ticia, that's very exciting!!
I haven't started the program yet, I have to wait another week but I am getting *so* excited to get going. If it helps ANY of my symptoms it's going to be worth it.
I had PCOS 2 years ago. Back then I was seeing a DR who does a low carb diet thing (no more then 30 carbs, need 100 of protein), but he used medication instead of and any kind of actual diet plan. Lost 42lbs in 4 months, medicine starting wearing off around month 4. So not good long term.
Anyway to the point now. Before that plan I had not had a cycle in a year, gave up on a 3rd baby. They weight coming off must of did something because I got pregnent during month 4 with no cycles.
Now I have regular cycles for the first time since I was a teenager without the use of birth control. Weird!!!
I posted in the other thread but yes, I have PCOS and if you look at my ticker you can see it does indeed work!!
No babies for me though - never did end up conceiving after seven years of trying and lots and lots and lots of money.
