Redecorating!

  • I want to redecorate my room. It's looked about exactly the same since I was 15 years old, and quite frankly, I am not 15 anymore and my tastes have really changed. The main thing I don't like anymore are my bright, bubblegum pink bedroom walls. However, I don't have the time/patience/money to repaint the room. So I have to deal with what I got. Hindsight, I would've picked a more suitable, neutral color so that I could do more things with it come time for my tastes to change, but alas I did not.

What colors go with bright, bubblegum pink that would be appropriate for a woman in her early 20s?
  • Have you thought of adding Black or a Silver / Grey? Find a bold / neutral color.
    good luck and have fun!
  • A light pearl grey would b beautiful. And just for accent, purple, .
  • I agree with bargoo 100%. Light grey and a bit of a purple accent. I'd maybe look for more muted versions of the grey and purple to tone down the saturated pink.
  • I love Apple Green with pink!
  • I agree with bargoo also. I think that would be really pretty!
  • What shade of purple? My favorite is a wine/sangria kind of purple, close to burgundy. Would that be work?
  • I sometimes wear a true purple with hot pink , it looks great . I am not sure about the burgundy although burgundy and grey look good together. I would get something in either color or both with the understanding that you can return it if it doesn't look good with the bubblegunm pink.
  • sometimes it helps to look at something like a comforter with the color you have, to see what colors work with it. like this one:

purples, greens, yellows..lots of options. If you want to tone it down, could you get a more muted comforter or rug? Curtains?
  • depends on where you want to go with it. I personally think bright pink with purple might be a bit too much for me, and would go with a neutral color to balance the pink- like grey, white, and black accents.
  • White or gold and a hint of red might look really nice. Or gray and silver with splashes of green. To make your room more grown up, go for really luxurious (looking) bedding and furniture. If the accessories look more mature it won't matter what colors you pick! Have fun!
  • try going for pink, silver, and white, like this:

it's definitely sophisticated and grown-up. personally, i think adding purple would be too much. splashes of green for accents would be okay if you know how to add the right amount of green. any overkill of purple or green will just keep your room looking like it's 15. (no offense to anyone, sincerely)

it just depends on the amount of colors you use and your fabric, pattern, and style choices to make all the difference.
  • I was also kind of thinking of green and brown. Like, not lime green or anything but maybe more of a sage or jade. Most of my furniture is brown. I'm also into a lot of retro/boho/hippie styled things, which I think would fit in better with more earth-tones, but there I am with the pink. I don't know how to incorporate the pink in with my style, lol.
  • I love pink with brown. If you google pink and brown bedrooms you'll get plenty of ideas. I'm dealing with my 50's style pink tiled bathroom so I feel your pain lol.
