So, if I were to get on a bike....

  • Ok, the only exercise that I actually enjoy doing is riding a bike. I love it. And, I want to get one of those pull behind things for my daughter so she can come with me. My question is, am I too fat for this? I weighed this morning and I am at 256. Am I totally going to break a bicycle if I try to get my arse on one?
  • I really doubt it. My fiance was around 350 and used to ride a bike allll the time!!! I do suggest looking into a stronger frame, but I really doubt you'll have a problem, most of our pressure is on our feet anyways.
  • omg biking is my passion!
at 330 I used to mountain bike on trails and when I got to 150 I was trailing off jumps and doing trix...now at 230 I can STILL do a few trix

get a quality bike on clearence from the pervious year while out of the season from a actual bike shop (believe me the deals will be INSANE) and most shops have loyalty programs lke free annual tune ups ect.

the only accomedation I made was too add a wider seat thats gel padded (cuz Im a tad of a princess lol and I wanted more comfort for mt fat tushey)

I go out with the family with back packs full of picanic stuff and we spend the day at the park....great times

    HAVE A BLASY LADY!!!
  • I always ride my bike (cheap one...not a strong frame or anything) and I've always been over 300-320 lbs... Love to ride bikes!! Never had a problem!
  • Oh gosh I don't think so at all! You can always research any bike you want and make sure of its weight limit, but most bikes I've seen are capable of supporting folks over 300 pounds.

I love riding a bike too! I need to get a basket for mine so I can use it to go places.
  • I love biking!! I think you'll be fine. If you buy it from a bike shop (and not target, etc) they will help fit it and make sure you get the right one.
  • I'm sure you'll be fine. My dh hasn't broken a bike from his weight, which has gone as high as 220, plus another 20+lbs of backpack full of stuff.

Be prepared for your butt to really hurt after the first couple of rides. That happens to me every spring and I'm always taken by surprise.
