Good books to read in DC?

  • I will be spending a good part of the summer in DC. Between work and all the places to go and people to see I doubt I'll have much time for pleasure reading, but I'd like to have some light reading material to help me wind down at night. Does anybody have any suggestions for good fiction or popular non-fiction that it might be particularly appropriate to read in Washington (and isn't so political that it will raise my blood pressure)? Thanks.
  • I've heard good things about The Devil in the White City by Erik Lawson. Takes place in DC.
  • Nora Roberts has a bookstore in Boonsboro MD (Washington County) near the Antietam Battlefield...she does book signings from time to time...might be a nice day trip for you.
