I've decided to start wearing eye makeup regularly again for the first time in years. I was wearing mascara sometimes for special occasions, and washing it off wasn't a big deal. But trying to do that every night is grating when I don't have any remover, and now that I'm wearing eyeliner too it's kind of a messy situation.

Anyway, the last time I was at Walmart I headed over to the cosmetics section and wasn't even able to find any eye makeup remover. I was in a hurry and there wasn't anyone to ask either, so I headed off without. Regardless, I just want something inexpensive that will work ok with a cotton ball and won't irritate my eyes. I'm hoping to find something I like that I can pick up at Walmart or a drug store or something.

If I sound a little ignorant with this, sorry . . . I haven't bought the stuff in like ten years.

I really like the Sonia Kashuk brand at Target. (spelling?) It's pretty cheap, and very easy on my eyes. I haven't had any irritation.

My skin is very sensitive but I just use cheap cold cream from the dollar store and dab a bit on my eyelids and eyelashes using fingers or qtip, leave it on for a few minutes then wipe it off. Leaves my skin feeling very smooth.

Do be careful not to get it in your eyes.

ETA: just checked what brand I have, it's the Jergens all purpose face cream, it was like 3 bucks. I got this one from Dollar General since I didn't have time to go to Dollar Tree (everything there is a dollar or less.) They have pretty good stuff there at DT and I even used their $1 hair-dye that turned out good (I was a nervous wreck before trying it, lol.)

I loooooove the neutrogena wipes. The blue pack is the one i use. It removes EVERYTHING and doesn't irritate my skin. :-)

DITTO! I alternate between the blue and purple. The purple smells SO good. I've found them in Walmart and there is also a walgreens brand that is about a dollar cheaper (if you have a walgreens).

I use sephora brand. I previously used clean & clear oil free. It worked fine, but well, it felt extremely not oil free! It felt like the greasiest thing I've ever put on my face.

Rimmel has this great eye makeup remover, which is not greasy or drying. I used to be able to buy it just about anywhere, but lately I can find it only in some CVS stores.

I use sensitive skin fragrance free baby wipes. I started using them on my face when my kids were in diapers, and now I still buy them as part of my makeup routine. I wipe my face down with one in the morning before I put on makeup, and I wipe my face down with one at night to remove makeup. Leaves my skin feeling baby fresh!

I wear a lot of hard to remove makeup like gel eye liner.

Honestly, I have tried a lot of the drugstore brands and yes they work but you have to use more tugging.

Tugging (however gently) everyday leads to more wrinkles. So to me, it is worth spending a little bit more on an eyemakeup remover that takes everything off with no wiping whatsoever. I drip it on and dab it off.

I recommned:

- Paula's Choice Eye Make up Remover
Or
- Cliniques Eye Make up Remover (I think it is called Take the day off, can't remember).

Oh and guacamole (love your username! lol) make sure you read the ingredients on your baby wipes. Sadly most of the sensitive skin ones still contain glycols, EDTA, BHT, alcohol (Ceteal is okay and so is steroyl) and parabens. You don't want those on your face (OR BABY!). Pampers/Huggies contain those ingredients sadly (don't know why they consider them for sensitive skin at all...it's all just marketing)

Garnier Clean Sensitive 2-in-1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. It's a decent price, comes in a large 200ml bottle and if you do have sensitive skin it won't irritate you.

I like the Garnier wipes for lazy nights, but for real makeup remover, I prefer the Sephora or Philosophy 2-phase liquid that you shake up.

Thank you for all the recommendations, everyone! I used to let cold cream set on my lashes years ago, back when I wore waterproof mascara, but I really didn't like having it so close to my eyes. I currently use coconut oil to moisturize my face (it actually helps my combination skin a lot), but I also don't like getting that near my eyes. I already mess with my eyes quite a bit because of my contacts, and really can't stand getting anything near them.

I do wish I remember what I used to use, but it's been too long, lol. I just remember that I was able to dab the liquid on a cotton ball and whatever was on my eyes would wipe right off. Anyway, I'll make a list from this thread and take a look at the closest drugstore to make comparisons and figure out what I'd like to try. I feel so much better going in armed with some information!
