Quick Question

  • I started my new lifestyle two weeks ago. I lost a little over 6 lbs the first week (i cut out pop totally and started counting calories). I added walking about 2-4 miles a day, about 5 times a week, the second week, and ever since then, my weight has stalled (ive gone up and down about a pound). I consume around 1200-1400 calories a day. Is this normal to stall after starting exercise?
  • Very normal. Don't worry, you'll drop it. Could be water that you're holding onto. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll start dropping!
  • You might try weighing yourself just once a week so the little fluctuations don't drive you nuts.
  • This is good for me to read since I've been stalled too after just a short time. We are building muscle!
  • As CoolMom75 said, your building muscles if you weren't doing the exercise before, so what fat you lost has been replaced by muscle. There can be other reasons too like how much fluid you retain, so it's all normal.

Don't be fooled by the scales, they don't tell the whole story. Have faith in your plan and if you have to look at the scales, look every 2 weeks.
  • Ok, chances are you didn't build muscle in the week you started exercising, but your body is probably holding onto water weight. Try to keep track of your measurements and see if you notice any changes.

If you stick to it then the weight will come off! Just be aware that you will likely not lose weight every week. So don't look for a day to day or week to week drop, but rather an overall downward trend
  • Than you for the advice everyone! I'm hoping its just water weight! I have been losing some inches, so thats what keeps me going..
  • I guess it was water weight! I was in the bathroom alot yesterday, and today i dropped 2 lbs!
