Brand New - Looking for Buddy that Matches My Start and Goal Weight

  • Hi,

I am brand new to this board and have already gotten a lot of inspiration from reading stories of people who have met their goal.

I would love to find a buddy who is around the same age/height/weight with similar goals. I thought we would have a lot in common right from the start.

I am a 56-year-old female. I am 5'2.5" (I always include that extra half inch!)
I currently weigh 160 and my initial goal is 130. Depending on how I look and feel at that time, I may choose to go lower.

I started Atkins this past Saturday in the Induction Phase. The reason I chose this diet is that I need to break my carb addiction - mainly in the form of bread and pastries. Once I start, I can't stop. I thought I could use the Induction Phase to break that cycle and then slowly reintroduce carbs a little at a time.

So far, I have not been hungry at all. I'm eating eggs with cheese, broiled chicken breast with green beans, salads with low carb dressing, celery and peanut butter.

Thanks to all of you who have posted your success stories. They are very inspiring!

Oh yeah, I would love to get one of those spiffy sliding scales that most of you have showing your starting, current, and goal weight. How do I get one?
  • Hello! I am new also. I have a a bad carb addiction. I love everything white..breads, pastas, potatoes. I am hoping being on here and tracking my calories, weight and exercise will make me accountable.
    Good luck!
  • The sliding scales are available from tickerfactory.com but I believe as a totally new member you are required to post a certain number of times before you can have one. Sorry I don't remember exactly how many but it's been a loooong time since I was a newbie ...
  • Okay, we have the same beginning weight and same goal weight. Let's check up on each other weekly, okay?

I will go into my profile tonight and put my S/C/G information.

I did see a quote from another thread that really hit a nerve with me: "A year from now you will be glad you started today."

I've "settled" for way too long and I am ready, now at the age of 56, to DO SOMETHING!

Good luck to both of us!

Thanks, I will check into it. I particularly like the one that goes from a frowning face to a happier face the closer you get to goal.
