southern cali girl

  • I'm very excited and nervous to begin this journey and glad I found this place. I'm 60 pounds overweight and wishing they could come off just like butter melts. I was an optimistic person up until I graduated from college and I think it was also when I gained most of my weight. After finding out that my husband has diabetes II I also took a closer look at myself and realized how out of shape and overweight I am. What really hurts is that I don't feel beautiful as I did before. So, I have begun this journey of regaining my self-esteem and becoming once again the healthy person that I was. I'm sure that this year is the year for that since I'm in transition to applying to law school and well I'm applying this fall and won't know where I get accepted until next spring. Now's the time for change and I'm happy for it, I'm SO READY! That's a little bit of me, so what do you guys think? Any words of encouragement or motivation on what to expect?
  • Welcome and good luck. You say your husband has Diabetes 2, that seems like a natural for the two of you to work together so you both can improve your health.
  • Welcome! We are the same height and I am also a So Cal girl. You can do it!
  • Hi! Nor Car over here. Good luck to you and your husband! My father has diab. and I take him for walks & hikes! He is only 44. Trying to make the best out of hanging out together and exercising
  • @bargoo That's true, when we found out of his disease we bought a diabetic cook book and learned about portioning our food and eating healthier.

@ crazygurl61 Thanks! We're shorties hehehe the downside is that any weight gain is noticeable when ur small but the upside is that we can wear the cutest high heels and still not look like we're above everyone else's head

@ youngnstrong7 Thanks for the good vibes! Unfortunately, my dad too has diabetes and he's had it for almost 10 years. He lost ~80 pounds and has maintained his weight and diet over the years. I don't see him or my family that often but we make the most of our time together
  • welcome fellow southern californian! good luck to the both of you guys on your weight loss journey!
  • Welcome!
  • Welcome and Hello especially to all you Southern Cali's. You make me homesick for San Diego.
It is great that you have a partner and can give each other much support. I have not been here very long, but it has become a second home for me.
I am doing this on my own as I live amongst those that are not very encouraging. But I always know that I can come here and have a huge family of supporters and sympathic ears.
  • Welcome and good luck !!
