BodyGem Test Now What?

  • I had the BodyGem test to determine my RMR it was 1280. I would be happy to lose 1 pound a week but I have been trying for 4 weeks and have not lost a pound or inches. I work out 4x a week. 30-40 min of cardio and light weights/upper & lower body alternate days. Keeping my eye on calories and try go get as close as I can. Based on these number 1536-No Exercise 1760 Moder. Exercise will still bring me to 1036/1260. Help! Anyone have any ideas I can either be eating to little or too much?

Multiply your RMR by the appropriate activity factor:

If you are sedentary RMR X 1.2
    (little or no activity)
If you are slightly active RMR X 1.375
If you are moderately active RMR X 1.55
    (moderate exercise/sports
    3-5 times a week)
If you are very active RMR X 1.725
  • I would guess that you should eat no less than 1200-1300 calories per day, and really work on moving more. Not necessarily more exercise than you're already doing, but also things like taking the stairs, getting up and moving around periodically while working at the computer, etc. Burning 500+ calories per day through movement and exercise shouldn't be too difficult.

Is that a normal RMR for someone of your age, height, and weight?

If you're already a normal weight for your height, it's going to be more difficult to lose weight. I know that I find it really difficult to go below about 125. At that point it's vanity pounds and I've decided that it's not worth the effort to me personally.
  • If it's getting difficult to lose weight, you might want to reconsider the exercises you're doing. Are you losing weight because there are places you are still unhappy with? If that's the case, you might consider weight training with heavy weight. You may not lose weight, but it will often reshape you.
  • I would love to lose maybe 8 pounds but my goal is to look more fit. Not just slim. I'm 57 at 160 and I think I look to heavy for my ht. I would like to look toned and would love to have those cuts in my arms and leg and no muffin top. I'm Hispanic with the typical build (big butt) and I'm small on top. Just need to tighten everything up. I need to tone up. Sontaikle- Do you think lifting heavier my give me the fit look I'm looking for. Would have to change my calories dramatically? Thanks for your responses.
