Yogurt Help

  • I am new here and not sure this is the exact place to post this so let me know if it should go somewhere else.

    My question is: When in phase 2 you can have FF or LF artifically sweetend flavored yogurt, is there a greek yogurt that fits this description? I love greek yogurt but hate regular yogurt ( I am sure its a texture thing). I'm having trouble finding one that would be on plan so I thought I would ask if one exists?
  • I buy Fage all natural Greek yogurt. No sugar, 23g protein, 130c per cup, 0 fat, 9 g carb total. When I was reading labels even Stonyfield organic ff Greek yogurt had 9 grams of sugar and other brands had up to 22 grams. Hope this helps, I am new to this, but trying to find the right foods to eat too
  • Artifically flavoured yogurt is allowed in phase 2 but yeah you're right, I don't think there is greek of this kind. What I do sometimes (because I do love plain greek yogurt without it being sweetened) is add a few drops of liquid stevia. You can also add some agave nectar yourself I don't really use artificial sweeteners but if you're up for them, you add them to the yogurt yourself plus fruits and bam, SBD friendly sweet Greek yogurt

  • Thanks for the helpful hints. Also if I understand correctly the plain greek yogurt is not limited to 4 oz per day just don't exceed my daily dairy amount, is this right?

    It's allowed for Phase 1, too. I would add some natural peanut butter and cinnamon to mine in Phase 1 as a yummy and satisfying treat.

    The dairy allowance is up to 2 cups a day, so you should keep that in mind as a guideline as to how much yogurt you can have.
  • Oh, and Jekel, just one thing! Plain yogurt and milk will always have sugar because milk has a naturally occurring sugar called lactose. 9g of sugar per serving is normal. 22g on the other hand is way to high! As long as it is plain and the amount of lactose (which is what is labelled as sugar) is decent, don't worry about it
  • Thanks Maryana.That is what I thought too. Very alarming how much added sugar is in products that do not need it. I will keep reading labels ��
