Hip Hop Abs

  • Has anyone tried Hip Hop Abs? I just finished day 2 and I am not as sore as I thought I would be? I just wondered if anyone has had success with it?
  • Ive been doing it off and on and I lost 5lbs like the first week.... If I might make a recommendation tho... if the Hip Hop Abs is too slow for you then try his other workout Insanity def lose using that... Right Now im so busy I cant fidn the time to do the workout everyday but when I do I do Hip Hop Abs and another workout called the Brazillian Butt Lift.... do them both together and youll be sweating off the lbs... I was so sore after the first 2 days -_-
  • I have the Brazilian Butt Lift and Turbo Fire. Turbo Fire is just too intense for me right now and I have not tried the Brazilian Butt Lift yet. I think I spoke too soon about Hip Hop Abs. I can hardly move this morning. I am feeling it mostly in my back and shoulders. I like Hip Hop Abs because it doesn't take as long as the other work outs because I am super busy too. Hopefully in the next few months I will be able to try some of the harder workouts.
  • who are those videos by they sound fun? the hip hop abs mostly? lol
  • I love the names of these workout videos! Some sound like porno's, it makes me laugh. (Perverted moment, over) LOL
  • I saw some excerpts on youtube and it looks interesting. I want something that won't hurt my knees and that doesn't require a lot of space. Is this anything like what I'm looking? Or can anyone suggest something?

Also, I assume that it can double as cardio since it's dancing?
  • lisa: the hip hop abs does catch up with you... you are essentially doing all the exercise you would in other workouts but your doing them at a slower and much more fun pace... Insanity and P90X are just more of an Intense workout for those of us who need the push need someone screaming in our ear to go go go lmao Dont forget if anything is too much for you, you can modify... I cannot do all the moves in Insanity but I push myself as far as I can .... carryin this much weight around you sometimes cant get your legs in positions they can haha

Jessica: Hip Hop Abs and Insanity is with Sean T (Beach Body) Brazillian Butt Lift is also by Beach Body I believe but its some Spanish guy who does the workouts. Turbo Jam is by a lady named Shaylene or something like that... a medium to intense workout but also fun.

Underthemoon: haha I get the porno thing :P

Marniadec: Insanity and Turbo Jam would probably be too much for you if you have bad knees.... Hip Hop abs on the otherhand isnt a lot of jumping around... you can modify if a certain move is too much for you but for the most part its dancing.... I live in a 1 bedroom apt right now and have a small living room with 2 couches and a toystore worth of toys all over the place... I literally do it in my living room between all that so not a lot of space is needed... you do need weights in one of the workouts for Hip Hop abs but if you dont have weights just improvise and use canned goods or something... and you might need a band... but you can get them at Walmart or any sporting goods store for like $10.... which you can always use outside the workouts for toning and stuff...
  • I just got the Hip Hop Abs DVDs this week, and tried one of the workouts today. I had a lot of fun, and I really like Shaun T. I hope the other DVDs are as good as this one (I only did the Fat Burning Cardio one so far).

Maybe try any of the Leslie Sansone Dvds like Walk Away the Pounds. Easy to learn, doesn't take much space and low impact; so if you are able to walk it should be ok on your knee. If walking is too much I think swimming, aqua jogging or water aerobics are about the best exercise for nursing injuries.
  • Thanks for the answers!

candice1022, I've looked up Insanity on youtube. It's very obvious that I can't do it, but it looks like such a great workout. =/ I do have weights and a band (not from Walmart, though --we don't have one in Greece), so I will give this a try, thanks!

mariposssa, my mom has a couple of dvds of hers from magazines. I've tried one, but I thought it was kind of boring.
  • marniadec: Didnt even look to see you were in Greece!! haha my bad! yes the Insanity is pretty hard I just did Day 3 like 20 minutes ago and im still sweating sitting down haha
  • I'm going to try hip hop abs on youtube or free on demand!

Marniadec. I agree that WATP can get boring. I only do it about once a week in bad weather. If it's nice I'd much rather walk outside. In bad weather I have other options I like better, too. (Like Just Dance and/or Zumba on the Wii or my little mini pedal bike.)
  • maripossa: you should just download it then u can burn it to a disc and do it on ur tv... i did that for HHA
  • candice1022, haha, it's OK. I actually tried to do a bit of Insanity when I first started losing weight. I did the first day and then I did 30DS. I couldn't even sit on the toilet for days. I thought stretching was a waste of time.

mariposssa, all I can do for cardio is walk. It gets pretty boring and as you lose weight, it seems like there's no reason, since you burn so few calories. I'm hypo, too (Hashimoto's) and I barely ever feel like walking for 2 hours, like I used to. What I do for cardio is salsa. I have a playlist on youtube with songs I love. I don't really see the need for cardio anymore, though. I see it as a way to trick myself into thinking that I'm eating more. But I don't want a lot of food on most days. So, I only do cardio when I feel like I need to eat more. I'm looking for something that's mostly strength, I want to change my routine.
