Hello! Just wondering if anyone here is doing weight watchers as well as counting carbs. I have been thinking about going to weight watchers, but I wasn't sure if counting carbs and points would be to complicated. I have hyperinsulenmia (high insulin levels) and my doctor has me on 30 carbs at meals and 2 snacks at 15 carbs. He also has said I should eat protein any time I eat carbs. I would love to hear from anyone that has tried to combine these 2 ways of eating. How has it worked for you? Do you have any suggestions?
vshall, glad you posted this over here. I'm sure someone will answer your question soon.
Good Luck

vshall,
I have tried counting carbs while on WW, but personally I found it too confusing. What I am doing is just eating 1 carb meal a day, cereal in the mornings, then eating mostly protein throughout the day, and counting points.
Have you read Diana Swarzbein's books? Her books, The Swarzbein Principle, The Swarzbein Principle II, and a cookbook, deal with insulin resistance with an eating plan. Her eating plan sounds a lot like what your Dr. prescribed to you, but you have to omit a lot of foods, especially those with added sugars, processed foods, ect. If you are interested in learning more, somebody on the low-carb thread has posted about TSP.
I hope this helps you some.
I tried to do WW and low carb - too hard to do for me anyway - WW is designed around bagels, english muffins and pasta - way too many carbs and the lo carb stuff has too many points.....
