Blenders that grind ice?

    My blender (which I'll admit is about 10 years old) still works just fine but it doesn't grind ice very well... in fact it only swirls them around.

    I thought this group would be a good one to ask for recommendations about what blenders really do grind ice? I see that the Magic Bullet is advertised as being able to do that... does it?

    I have a GE blender that came with 2 different blades, 4-12oz cups and a 8oz cup was only $20.....i use that thing 3 times a day...lol...so worth my 20bucks!

    That definitely looks interesting. I assume you are able to grind ice in it ok? The cost is certainly good.

    Thx - I have heard lots of good reports about vitamix. But I'd prefer to find something right now that's not that expensive.

    Yes!....it grinds it to like the consistancy of a shake...I LOVE IT!...you can do it to where its more liquid or clumpy....its awesome!I don't leave home without it, I take it when I go to my mom's...its not bulky and I just take one of the bigger cups and one of the blades and off I go!....lol

    i have this thing called the Ninja and it will turn ice into "snow" in 5 seconds. i love that blender more than any other kitchen appliance i have.

    Sounds good Wuv.... right now it's between that and a Ninja, although I'll also check into the Blendtech.

    Thanks all of you for the suggestions. I just want to make sure I get one this time that will really grind up that ice! Lots of smoothies and protein drinks in my future over the coming months... having lots of ice in them will make them that much more tasty.

    I have a ninja and it has 3 canisters so I can grind large, med or small quantities. Works fine.

    Thx Chloe222. I've been curious about how well the Ninja works... I've certainly heard a lot about them. I'm looking forward to being able to make my protein drinks with lots of crushed ice.

    Is the Ninja used in this youtube clip the type you're referring to?

    I have a Magic Bullet! I've had it for about three years, and it's still going strong! It does grind ice, very well!
