I gain so easily

  • Hello ladies!!! Happy Tuesday! I am coming to the board to get thoughts and opnions on my weight loss journey. So far I have lost about 10 pounds on WW and got off track the last 2 weeks. Out of the last 14 days I havent done great 4 of them. I wasnt tracking extra points but am almost positive I used more than allowed. Even though I ate my extra weeklies, it seems like I pack on the pounds so easily when I've stirred off course slightly. What are everyones experience with this?
  • Well, I'm not doing WW, but I am very sensitive to carbs - simple carbs. If I eat a single slice of cake, I will gain 2-3 pounds overnight.

It's water weight, but it's pounds on the scale nonetheless and can be disheartening. But LEARNING that it's temporary and not fat helps. A couple days later I'll pee away the water weight and be back to where I was - at most a few ounces heavier than before with slightly bigger eating.

This, exactly, for me too. I can accept those 2lbs for a few days if I really want X thing. Like sodium makes me gain, but if I'm wanting sushi, I have it. Because its tasty and good for me and I've made tons of sacrifices already... And yum.

You just have to learn that those bounces and things are temporary and will be gone as soon as you get back on plan.
  • And most importantly, never give up! Get back on plan, now!
  • I can gain 5 pounds overnight if I'm eating badly, especially foods high in sodium. The majority of it is water weight and comes off within a few days. It's just something I've gotten used to...at first it used to drive me crazy though!
  • ^^ Agreed with all the above comments. My scale will go up 2-3lbs after a higher point day of eating. But if I remain consistently OP and cut back the next few days...it all balances out and eventually gets back to the same range and back to weight loss.

    Get back on track Missy!

I think modern genetically modified grain is not even real food any longer

    I totally agree .

I'm lucky that I have access to good non GMO whole wheat and my mom has a grinder, otherwise I wouldn't touch the stuff AT ALL. It's scary, frankly.

I can eat several slices of my home made bread, made from fresh ground wheat and not see a blip.

Eat one slice of the "100% Whole grain" stuff from the store and pack on 4 lbs of water. Hmmmmm. It makes me think. To process wheat, they take out all the protein and good stuff, and then just add the bran back in the end. It's not even the same food, GMO or not!

I guess this is a rant for another thread ...

But yeah, 'wheat' makes a lot o people balloon up.
  • I had to step away from the scale. I only weigh once a week! I once gained 5 pounds in 1 day after eating chinese food. It can be disheartening to say the least
  • I have been a bit obsessed with the scale lately. I was down to 233 and at last weigh in I was 237. I'm glad to see this post actually. I was so down and feeling awful. Now I dont feel so bad and alone. Its aggravating to get so close to 230 and now I'm back close to 240 again. I've eaten over my daily points but not by much. I dont use anywhere near my extra weekly points so I am confused by the gain. I'm not sure what is causing my gain and also my plateau. I just cant seem to get the heck out the 30's. I think I may be eating too many bananas. Anyway, not giving up! Thats my best answer to everything. Never give up on yourself!
