Splurge meal?

  • Does anyone let themselves have a splurge meal once every few months?

I really want some nachos right now. (I would put it into my tracker to use up my weeklies as I don't want a gain). I haven't eaten fast food in probably 6 months and we don't eat out very often at all. The last time we went to a sit down restaurant instead of cooking dinner at home was probably at least 4 months ago.
  • I don't splurge, but I do find a way to make the food I want work for me, so I tweak recipes or find a way to get the flavor profile I want.

Have you tried these: Skinny Nachos or these?
  • That's what I had planned on doing, I'm just not crazy about the texture ground turkey, but I'm going to use some taco seasoning on it and see how it goes. I'm not going to deprive myself of queso this time though. I've got 11 daily and 49 weeklies left.
  • If you have a trader joes near you they have 0PP (per serving - 2 TBSP) queso. Its really good. I bought 2 things of it last time I went.

  • You can use lean ground beef, shredded chicken, or no meat. I think I even saw a recipe using lowfat hotdogs
  • Not to mention, flax 'tortilla' chips are YUMMY!

I LOVE these chips! I have such a hard time stopping at 1oz (7 chips). I like to bake my own because if I'm making two corn tortillas worth, there is no more for me to munch on afterward
  • A group of us does a splurge meal every few months. We go to a local tavern and have hot wings, fries with cheese, and beer. Totally worth the points since I seldom eat out.
  • I always use lean ground beef, otherwise it's not worth that many points. I really wish I had a Trader Joe's near me now, but I don't. I haven't tried flax tortilla chips, but I will definitely have to check when I get to Kroger tonight!
    Thanks ladies! <3
  • Have you considered buying Morningstar Meat Crumbles in place of ground beef? They are vegetarian and you find them in the freezer section. It's a like a meatless form of ground beef and 2/3 cup is 2 pts.
  • I splurge for special events. A dear friend got married - I had a piece of wedding cake and toasted the bride - without guilt and with tracking and an added bit of exercise that week.

My grandmother turned 90 and we had a party (same week as the wedding). I ate crawfish, drank beer and had a big pice of cake - tracked and without guilt. And I exercised extra.

(and I did lose that week )
