  • Hello Friends! I just started IP this past Wednesday, March 14th. I'm really scared to try anything Walden Farms. How are the products? What are some favorites? I've tried the Honey Dijon mustard from a friend and I didn't like it AT ALL. Please tell me that they all don't taste that bad. Thanks!

  • Hi and welcome! There's an entire thread full of WF (Walden Farm) reviews. It's in a thread under Ideal Protein. Personally, I'm finding them more enjoyable the longer I'm on IP. I enjoy the Honey Dijon but in very small portions!!! Too much and I can taste the weirdness!!! But check out the link. You'll also get information on where to buy it cheapest online. Best wishes!!!

Welcome to IP! I hated the honey dijon mustard too, I think it's still sitting in my fridge. The WF syrup is amazinggggggg the chocolate syrup is ok, but the original is just as good as the real stuff!!!
  • Welcome
I have tried a lot of the WF products. My favorite is the Italian Dressing. It's light and since we have so many salads, it's great. The ranch is good too.
The syrups are great! I use a bit of the Chocolate Syrup in my chocolate pudding. The Pancake syrup is yummy. You'll find that most of the WF products taste a little off but it's 0-0-0 and they still taste good so it's worth it!
  • I have definitely acquired a taste for them as I have gone along because I like condiments. I really like the catsup because it tastes exactly like cocktail sauce. It is good with turnip fries. I like the Sesame Ginger salad dressing and my favorite is the raspberry vin. dressing.

I have purchased several of the syrups etc. but have not used them yet.
  • I started with a lot of them but now only have a few.

    Salad Dressings
    Italian. Decent.
    Chipotle Ranch. Pretty good flavor.
Thousand Island for Big Mac in a Bowl
I also like Asian and Sesame Ginger
I think Ranch and Blue Cheese might also be good. DH likes those.

Hot and Spicy BBQ sauce. This is quite good actually.

    Syrups and Dips
    Pancake Syrup. Good stuff.
Blueberry spread. Pretty good though not sure what to do with it.
Caramel dip. I think I will like this more once I start eating apples again.
I couldn't find caramel and blueberry syrup so I got these. They worked.
Chocolate sauce. This has an odd taste to me but many seem to like it.

    Other
Mayo is just okay. Made chicken salad once. It only worked because my chicken was very spicy
Tomato Basil Marinara. More like a ketsup to me
Ketsup. More like a cocktail sauce. Probably good with shrimp
    Alfredo. Okay.

Could have skipped some of these along with some of the salad dressing. Can't get back honey dijon.

WF gets very expensive over time. They run about $3.50 a bottle (some pay more) and if you have too many you may regret it.
  • Some of the dressings are okay.
I do not particularly like the chocolate spread or the mayonnaise. I spread the chocolate very thinly. As for the mayonnaise, I use very little of it or I mix it with spices and low-fat sour cream.

STAY AWAY FROM THE PEANUT SPREAD. It is an abomination.
  • The creamy bacon is really pretty good.
  • The bbq sauce is good. I tried the regular one (not thick & spicy). I'm not crazy about any of the dressings. I have the caramel (the one a jar). It tastes fake to me - far from the real thing. The chocolate sauce is okay. I use it when I make the chocolate mug cake (I put a little on top before I microwave the mug).
I tried the catsup. It was discusting. It looked like red food dye to me. Gross. If I need catsup to make cocktail sauce (with horseradish), I buy organic sugar free catsup and use it sparingly.
  • The salad dressings are marginal, but I usually add a splash of apple cider vinegar or tamari to brighten them up. The chocolate and caramel dips are pretty good, but have a sour aftertaste unless you add splenda or stevia, or put it in a shake. I just had some popsicles with the chocolate shake and some of the chocolate dip, and it was pretty good.

    I love the barbecue sauce.

The longer I was on the diet, the less offensive I found their flavors. Our taste buds must change or something..
  • Here is what I have tried-

Chocolate syrup- ok- sometimes add to pudding
    honey bbq sauce- good!
Chipotle Ranch- good on salads- nice spice
    onion dip- good
    blue cheese dip- good

I did not like the peanut spread at all- blah.

    Best wishes!
  • I recently discovered WF Raspberry vinaigrette and I absolutely love it on my salads.
  • The balsamic vin. is surprisingly good.
  • Has anybody tried that garlic/onion sauce? I am thinking that I'm better off just making my own combo of garlic and green onions, because some of the WF stuff is so bland...
  • I have found that making waffles with the IP pudding packets work great and then I can spread the WF peanut spread and raspberry or strawberry spread on them to make a PB&J sandwich......only way I can eat the peanut spread.
The WF syrup is great on the waffles too.
