Movie theater snacks

  • So I'm going to the movies with a friend of mine tonight and I was wondering what everyone here does when they get the munchies during the movie... I'm going to smuggle in a snack or two but I have no idea what to bring that's small enough to fit in my purse, low cal but satisfying. Any ideas?
  • I always take a protein bar. My favorite is Luna Protein in Cookie Dough. It's very chew so I take lots of small bites and chew for a long time. I also always take gum with me in case I still wanna keep on chewing!

You could pop some popcorn at home and add cinnamon to it with some zero calorie I can't believe it's not butter spray. Just put it into a ziplock bag or a few bags and viola!

I hope you enjoy the movie!
  • I love the Fibre One Peanut Bars (140 calories). Not super filling but definitely feels sinful. I usually also buy a coffee at the movies. It feels like a low-cal trip to starbucks
  • Goldfish Crackers. I just recently rediscovered these things...they're practically a comfort food, since I always ate them at birthday parties as a little kid, and they're baked, so they're lowcal. 60 for 140 calories!
  • I just take dinner to the movies, haha. My fiance and I sneak meals in all the time Yesterday we took in Quiznos. I even had room for both of our drinks!

If I want a snack, I'll take a piece of fruit, pop my own popcorn or I'm thinking of taking asparagus next time to snack on. To avoid munching on the popcorn someone else might have, I chew gum as soon as I'm done with my snack

Taking whole meals in can be tricky, but if you have a big enough bag it's quite easy. Just don't make it obvious and hide your food underneath papers or something, There was on time I had to open up my bag, but everything was hidden so we got in If it's my turn to pay for the movies, I keep everything out in my hands and don't open my bag until I get inside.
  • Haha - I love your tricks sontaikle
  • I always eat beef or turkey jerky and a big diet coke. Might be weird but it takes a long time to chew and it's a good protein punch for a relatively small amount of calories .
  • I eat before hand or after. If I can't make it through 2 hours of sitting without needing fuel, i obviously haven't eaten enough that day. Also, if you are eating during a movie you aren't paying attention to what you are putting in your mouth, which can lead to eating more than you body needs.
