I ran a mile for the first time in years!

  • I missed my spin class yesterday for a doctor's appointment, so I decided to lift weights (which I usually do afterward) and then attend a yoga class beginning an hour later. After I finished lifting, I had about twenty minutes to kill before yoga. I decided to do a little cardio, which I'd usually do on an elliptical but, for some reason, I found myself stepping on a treadmill instead.

To my shock, I then ran a mile. Granted, it took me fifteen minutes to do 1.10 miles, but I haven't run a mile in years, and I don't think that I would have had the conditioning to do it a month ago. And I'm sure I could have run further if I hadn't had to go to yoga class.

HOLY COW, I RAN A MILE! Next stop, themed 5k in the fall!
  • Congratulations! I did the same thing last night, I actually made it the whole way without slowing down, so I understand your excitement. It's a great feeling. =)
  • Congratulations When I broke that first mile barrier it was the best feeling. Can't wait to see your post that says you completed your first 5k.
  • This is my first fitness goal. It is slow and going since I have a recurring back injury. I think I need to drop a bit more weight before I start training again.

    congratulations!
