How often should I change my work out routine?

  • What the title says. I usually get on the elliptical everyday then do weights, but should I change it if I want results? I go to the gym 5-6 times a week.
  • My own policy is: if it no longer feels like an effort, ramp it up or change it up.

    F.
  • I think it really depends on you. If you are getting bored - change it. If it is getting too easy - change it. If it's working for you for difficulty and enjoyment factor - keep it as it is.

Though, I am a big fan of mixing things up. But that is because I easily get bored.
  • I get bored easily so I switch my routine every 8 weeks. If I didn't, I might stop altogether which is not what I want. Variety keeps it interesting for me.
  • I mix things up all the time. Each day I have a different routine and I'm constantly adding new things. I've been running, for example, and now I run to a playground and do some strength training (pull-ups, etc.) and run back.

When it comes to weight training I have one rule: If I am not terribly sore two days afterward then I must add more weight.

Listen to your body if something is getting easier then switch it up!
  • I only did Zumba the first month. When I started getting bored, I started looking into other work-outs. Now Im doing the JM 30 Day Shred mixed with Zumba everyday. So far so good.
