Newbie ready to lose big!

  • Hi ladies!

My name is Tricia, I'm 29 years old and I'm new to using forums for support. I've struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I've done the up and down yo-yo dieting for WAY too long. This time I want it to stick, but I think I need some help and support from fellow big girls looking to lose. Most of my friends are not as overweight as I am and my husband is a skinny brat! It's hard to get advice and help from them since they haven't had to struggle with weight issues. I've signed up for this forum on a whim after coming back from vacation in Hawaii and realized that all of my pants BARELY fit anymore!! I don't know what my current weight is at the moment, but I already have a mini goal in mind. I have a Las Vegas trip coming up in mid-May and would like to lose 20 pounds before then. I know I can do it because I've done it before. Coming back and getting back on track will be the hard part. I am going to weigh in tomorrow morning and I'll be off on my journey to a healthy weight once again!!!

I look forward to reading and sharing your successes as well as contributing my two cents to your questions. So hello, ladies!!!!
  • Hi Tricia and welcome to the forum..Hope you find the support you need here..I am sure you can meet your target. I know what you mean about others around not understanding..I feel that alot thats why I came here.. good luck on your journey
  • Welcome!

I know what it feels like to have skinny friends and a hubby who can eat a horse and not gain a pound. The advice on here is GREAT and it comes from those who actually understand the struggles of weight loss and lifestyle changes. Good luck with everything!
  • Hi, Tricia!!
Hey, Tricia, I;m Patricia! Interestingly enough I also am from Olympia! Well, I actually grew up in Graham, Wa, but I lived in Oly for a number of years and my hubby abd I are planning on moving back. (We live in southern Oregon currently) I wish you the best, and I wouldn't mind being a supportive buddy!!! I have to loose 25 pounds minimum before I can do IVF- my husband and I are trying to have a baby, but can't conceive naturally) My actual weight loss goal is 100 pounds. Whew!
  • Oh, yeah- Candeka: How can I get that wight loss meter that is at the bottom of your post? Nowe that I am loosing the weight, I wanna show it off!
  • Tricia welcome. I am also new in here and as I keep reading posts I get more hopefull that this time I will succeed. Hope the same for you. I think this is the right place for support and no our relatives or friends. Very very difficult to understand how we feel.

@Patricia: as a new member you have to have about 20 posts and 20 days of membership in order to place a ticker on your posts.

My hubby and I have been trying to have a baby for about 6 years now, so I understand your struggle there. I lost about 40 pounds before my doctor had me taking hormones, but it didn't make a difference. Of course, I've gained it all back over the course of about 3 years. Now I'm seeing a specialist. He hasn't mentioned that losing weight would help, but I know it's coming, so I'm trying to get a jump on him. Good luck with IVF. I'm not ready to jump to that yet, but it could be an option down the road.
  • Thanks ladies! I'm very hopeful that this will be the time that it sticks!!!
