Breaking Through my Weight Loss Stall

  • Hello Everyone,

I have been a member here for a while but have been relatively quiet, so first off, Hi!

In June my Fiance and I moved back to our home town and at this time I decided to include healthy choices into our new lifestyle. I lost 8 lbs in a few months but then the weight loss stalled, at this point I started Weight Watchers and quickly lost another 5 lbs. Problem is, I have been stalled at my current weight for the past 4 weeks!

I have upped my activity each week as well as water intake and am not sure what else to do! I am always within my points plus allowance.

Any tips to help me break through would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Aubrey
  • Hi!
I had this happen to me also, and I just kept going (it was very hard to keep going with no reward on the scale) and after a few weeks, the losses started happening again. So my advice to you is to just keep going and don't give up! I know, that's not really helpful.
Are you doing PointsPlus? You could try switching to FillingFoods (or is it called Simply Filling? I can't remember right now) and give that a try.
  • Regarding your activity, I know you said you are increasing each week but it's not clear what type(s) of activity you are doing. I found that when I added strength training it made a huge difference.
  • Thanks PinkLotus. That is exactly what I am trying to do but every week that I don't see a loss i get a little more discouraged!! I will keep at it as long as I have to!!

How do I go about switching to "Filling Foods?" I would certainly give that a try!!

Moviegrl, I have been doing Jillian Micheals Yoga Meltdown and 30 Day Shred as well as walking/jogging. Perhaps I'll start working in some added weight training.

    Thanks ladies!

  • Simply Filling (I looked online, that's the official name of it) is when you don't count points. Instead, you eat foods that are on the "Power Foods" list only (without counting their point value). I believe you can use your weekly 49 points towards things that are not on that list. It's a bit trickier because you have to do your own portion control, but I know some people who find that program easier to follow.
  • Hi Aubrey! If you are able to maybe post 2-3 days of your food tracker, that might help give some more specific ideas about food too. Sometimes it can be really helpful to get a fresh perspective.

Make sure to post points values with the foods too if you take the time to post, so we can make sure you aren't counting something wrong. That seems to happen once in a while to folks in my meeting that are struggling.
