How long is this going to take?????

  • ...my weight loss that is!

I'm on my third week of W.W. and as of week two I hit my 10 pound mark. Being sick was a major boost because every time I ate I would go into a coughing fit...not so much fun when you're sitting in a office - everyone treats you like you have the plague Well I'll take a lose any way I can get it.

I'm here because I need to lose weight. I've always been over weight and frankly it's never been that big of a deal so why is it now? I love the beach but I hate wearing a swim suit and we have a trailer down the shore for the entire summer. It wasn't a big deal last year - we only went down for a few weekends here and there - but this is serious because now we bought a trailer and have the location. I'm going to be in a bathing suit all weekend every weekend for the entire summer....so I'd like there to be a lot less of me if that's at all possible...

My immediate goal is to lose as much as I can by Memorial Day which is May 26th this year. Working forward from this Wednesday that's 17 weeks of weigh ins. Although I have a lot to lose I'm being realistic and counting on an average of 2 pounds a week going forward - that's another 34 pounds on top of what I've lost so far. I was hoping for 50 but would have been happy with 40 - 44 seems like the perfect way to split the difference.

Having said that my long term goal is all of it - I want all this extra weight GONE. I want to wear a bikini (or at least the top of a bikini - I really have grown very fond of swim short). That's my goal for next summer - to have a bikini body.

I'm 38 and I've been doing W.W. for about 20 years now. This is the time I stick with it - no matter what - and get it all off. My partner in this weight loss is also my new wife. She only has about 27 pounds to lose but having her with me has been a huge motivation. We also have a five year old son and having the energy to keep up with him will be awesome.

That's it for me. I really look forward to getting to know everyone.

    Have a great day!

    Sarah
  • 2 pounds a week may not be a realistic goal. Healthy weight loss is .5 - 2 pounds a week but it's hard to hit that 2 pounds week after week. A better goal would be to establish lifestyle changes of ------- (fill in the blank) that will lead to permanent weight loss. Setting a goal of losing a certain number of pounds by a certain date can be counter productive because what happens if you don't reach the goal - you feel like you have failed and that can lead to giving up.
  • I too was aiming for 2lbs a week.. 1 week I lost 3.8 and the next ... .5... i found myself disappointed big time.. so now instead of a weekly goal, I look at the change every 2 weeks and as long as im losing and feel healthier its a plus for me. Good luck! Its also great to have someone working on the goal with you!
