hi, i'm sophia

  • i'm 15 and i weigh 198 lbs. i'm 5'4". i only wear a size 12 or 14 in pants but sometimes i can fit into a 9 or 10... and a large or xl in shirts, sometimes xxl. (juniors sizes) well i guess im most consistently an xl in shirts and a 12 in pants.
my body shape is apple although usually you can't tell because of the way i dress. sometimes i don't get why i weigh so much because usually people at my weight are sizes 17-18 in pants. and ive got junk in my trunk too, lol. i'm overall really healthy but my eating habits are not so great.
so i joined this because i'm really tired of being the fat girl, and my new years resolution was to lose weight. honestly i am doing it to feel better about myself. but i'm also doing it so i can stop being treated like a big fat joke. i'm an artist, i wanna travel, i wanna live life, but being fat just changes the way people judge you, so its really hard to get the same chance as the skinny girls.

    i'm sophia. hi.
  • Hi Sophia,

Well it's a good thing you joined a bunch of others in the same boat! I weigh about the same as you and am 5'6 and actually no longer fit in my size 14 jeans. I'm now a 16 its weird how fast one can gain or lose weight!
Good luck to u and if u have any healthy secrets to losing weight please share!
  • Sophia,
Hi! I'm Abbie. I decided to go through the introductions before I posted one myself. I couldn't help but notice that you have very close measurements to mine.
I'm 24 years old, and people can't seem to believe how much I weigh. I'm 5'4 wear a size 14, and I weigh 209 lbs (which is about 10 lbs heavier than my average).
First of all, I'd like to tell you that you are not a "big fat joke". Even if people make jokes about your weight on a regular basis, that does not define you. High school is hard for overweight girls.
While I am encouraging you to lose weight as it will in turn result in a healthier lifestyle, find comfort in yourself in the process. Even though you're not slender doesn't mean that you're not just as vibrant and wonderful as any other girl your age!
  • Sophia, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join!

As Abbie said, just because people say something doesn't make it true, only you can define yourself.
