Pushing to the End

  • Hey, everyone. My name is Emilee and I'm trying to focus on losing the last 50 lbs of this long journey.

It started when I realized I was unable to have children due to health/fertility problems- and my weight was making it worse since my cycles had stopped altogether. At one point, about 2 years ago, the scale read 270 lbs- and I knew I had to do something about it. I didn't instantly start running miles or anything, but made small changes- the weight mostly started coming off once I began medication for an undiagnosed thyroid disease that doctors failed to test for-for about 6 years or more (I'm 26).

I'm now at 190, 5'9 and ready to reach 140. Since dropping below the 200 lb line, it's gotten pretty hard. I haven't reached my mini-goals yet. I know it's because my body is smaller so I need to work harder. I bought new running shoes and have been training for a 5k. I used to run every now and then, but my focus this year is to run my first 5k-so I want to run more than my usual 2 times per week. I also purchased a home gym and do resistance/strength training exercises about 5 times per week. I'm hoping by coming here I can find the right motivation to push to the end and lose this last 50 lbs- and hopefully find new and creative ways to do it. I also want to be able to help out as much as I can.

    Thanks for reading!
  • Hi Emilee! I am so with you about weight loss after a certain point. I lose weight in 10 lbs intervals and that's about it. Gradually, it seems I gain it back and lose it again. Here's to keeping it off!
