Nut Butters

  • The amount of points in nut butter is killing me! Peanut Butter and Almond Butter are both a massive 4 points a tablespoon. Are there any nut butters with fewer points? I like to put them in smoothies and to help bind some of my vegetarian meals.
  • I use PB2 which is a powdered peanut butter and it's 2pts I believe for 1/4 cup. You mix 2Tbsp with 2Tbsp water and it seriously turns out exactly like peanut butter but without all the fat and calories! You can even add the powder to smoothies and other recipes =D
  • Better'n Peanut Butter is 2 pp for 2 Tbsp I believe. I wouldn't exactly call it BETTER than pb though, but it's decent for what it is.

The other option would be PB2 which is a powdered form of peanut butter, 1 pp if I remember right, for 2 Tbsp of powder. You can reconstitute it with water (again, it's not going to be the same as pb though but it's pretty good) or just add the powder to a smoothie or oatmeal or whatever. They have a chocolate pb powder too but haven't tried that.

Personally I like PB2 better because their ingredients list is pretty clean - it's like peanuts, sugar and salt. But other folks love the better'n peanut butter way more, so guess it's just a matter of preference.
  • I've used Better'n Peanut Butter before. It's not fabulous, but it works as a replacement.

I've never heard of PB2 but I am very intrigued and might have to look into it!
  • I use Better 'N Peanut Butter too and it is good, a tad on the sweet side, but it works when you need a fix.
  • Can't you blend it?

I've done PB with great northern beans. Don't see why other nut butters wouldn't work. The beans are very mild.
    • 3/4 cup drained, rinsed canned Great Northern Beans
    • 1/3 cup peanut butter
    • 1-2 tbs honey (optional)

Blender it up and spread like you would plain PB. Still will taste peanutty but cuts back on the fat.
