Can you really wipe out three weeks of work in 4 days?

  • I'm sick and I had lost 10 pounds. I'm also a daily weigh-er. I can't exercise and when I do eat, anything healthy does not taste good. When I'm sick, I also drink a lot of oj and chicken broth but no water (it doesn't taste good to me when I'm sick). Evidently, my taste buds are only registering sweet tastes right now. My weight has spiked up and I'm worried that I will screw up everything by having a silly cold/whatever illness this is. Even when I feel better, I also strained a muscle which means I can't do my cardio for a week or two.
  • You're sick - give yourself (and your body) a break. Try to eat as healthily and reasonably as you can given your body's illness-fighting needs and what you can actually get down right now. Illness-related weight gain isn't a "screw up," it's part of life, and it's something that you can deal with once you're better by adjusting your eating habits.
  • I'm feeling a bit better and am drinking water again instead of mainlining orange juice. That just means getting better is just around the corner! On the good hand, my husband bought me a (another) fitbit. I was shocked! After talking to co-workers, it sounds like everyone has a bit of the crud.
  • Orange juice is high in calories - it takes 3-4 oranges to make 1 cup so if you are drinking a lot... You can do upper body exercise, chair exercises, etc. so you can exercise when you are over your cold. Water is far better than anything else when you are sick. You don't have to like it, just drink it.
  • I'm glad you're feeling better, Daimere, and for you husband getting you another fitbit. It's definitely the season for contagious illnesses.
