SBD Chat, Monday 11/28

  • Good Morning

Yes, I'm at it a wee bit early! I worked yesterday and DH spent the entire day in his shop. We were both pretty tired so went to bed very very early.(6pm). I work again today and tomorrow so I'm enjoying some knitting time. I have 2 prayer shawls I'd like to complete before I meet up with the ladies on Thursday. DH is already in his shop trying to finish some glue ups he was just too tired for last night.

We'll probably nap a bit later, but I have to be to work before 7 so I might not get back here until after shift. Food choices have been pretty darned sane for a holiday weekend. My group decided not to come up for dinner so that was okay with me. I enjoyed the simplicity of my salad last night.

    Have a great day everyone!

    Stop and say hi!
  • Debbie, I love going to sleep occasionally at 7 or so. I wake up feeling so rested. They say that sleep before midnight is the most restorative sleep you can get, which really seems to be true in my case.

Back to the grind today! I'll actually be glad to get back to a routine. I'm going to try to keep things as "routine" as possible until Christmas and even through that. For anyone who is interested in astrology, Mercury went into retrograde last Friday. Just something to keep in mind...

I'm going to count points this week just to get myself back on track and refocused. I don't have the courage to weigh myself this am!! Maybe tomorrow...hope everyone has a great day today.
  • Happy Monday.

Like Mmckellen, I am glad to get back to work and a routine. My month of October and November were not fun for me, and I am still trying to get caught up at work.

Could use a day that I feel 100% with everything.

Hope you guys have a great day.
  • Good Monday morning.

Debbie, you were certainly the Early Bird this morning! I do hope you can manage a wee nap sometime today.

Matilda, I was a bit hesitant to put on my jeans this morning, but they did slide on just fine, thank goodness! I was a little lax over the weekend with my eating, too, and am vowing to be extra diligent this week. BTW, what, exactly, does Mercury being in retrograde mean?

I'm feeling like something is missing this morning, without Ruth here. I miss her already.

    Good morning, Chickadeee!
  • I'm here, Linda! Visions of the Turnpike dancing in my head but I will be swapping that for Christmassy things later this morning. My Keurig is still in the car but I will go get it and set it up - after reading the manual, of course.

Had an absolutely great time with Linda and her family this past week and loved seeing Jiffypop again. My ticker is lying this morning but I am convinced it has been affected by a detour into a Macdonald's yesterday. (You gotta keep your strength up when on the turnpike, ya know! )

It's time to leap into my week. First on the agenda will be to pick up my furries from the kennel and then take a tote bag to the Post Office for my mail and the Mill mail - my two curators are off until January so I have another line on my volunteer job description. I'm that the big grant cheque has arrived so I can get it into the bank and pay some big bills - like $7K for liability insurance.

Big at Chickadeee, Mathilda and Debbie, the EarlyChicks!
  • Good morning ladies!
Waking up to weather in the 50's today, but it's going to get much colder for the remainder of the week. I guess winter is on its way. I have been lounging in bed for awhile now and need to get up, showered and start my day.

I have banking, bills and a doctor's appointment on the agenda. I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety lately and am not a happy camper. I have to get this under control for my health. I've been losing weight due to nerves, NOT GOOD. Oh well, as my mother always says, this too shall pass.

Have a great day, Debbie, Matilda, Chickadee, Linda and Ruth and to all the chicks to come!
  • Ruthie, make sure you take your new tote with you to pick up your mail so you can show it off to everyone.

Chris, good morning to you! Be glad you weren't able to find a Quorn roast for your DD for Thanksgiving. It was the first time I had one, and I didn't care for it at all. Yuck! I'll go back to a Tofurky from here on out.

I made an egg sandwich for Jake, have my bowl of oats here in front of me, packed lunches, and paid some bills, so I'm on a roll. I wonder what awaits me out at the farm. Hmmmmm.
  • Good morning The cats woke us up around 4 but I didn't think anyone wanted to hear what I had to say that early. Today I'm focusing in on work for the morning then errands and job applications this afternoon. In-between I'm getting out side for a walk while the nice weather is still around.

Debbie - Hope you are able to get a nap in. Sounds like a long day.

Matilda - If I went to sleep before 7 I'd wake up by midnight and be done. I've lost the ability to sleep more that long
Good luck getting back in the groove.

Chickadee - I hear you on the Oct/Nov thing. Here's to a nice, normal and productive week for both of us!

Cottage - congratulations on the jeans challenge. Hope the rest of your day is just as easy

Ruth - I know you and those fur babies are going to have some catch-up time Hope the distractions don't take too long.

Chris - here's to a low key, low stress day for you. Sounds like you could use a few.

DW is doing really well and is hoping to go to a couple of work meetings this week. Technically she is out until next week but if i drive her she can go in for a little while. It will be good for her to get back in her normal routine. I know she really misses her job and everyone there.

Now off to get this Monday started!

ETA - Cottage - I like the Quorn alright but it requires some tweaking IMO. I cook it in a couple of inches of broth with lots of Bell seasoning and a little soy. I also put vegetables around it, like a roast. It makes great leftovers, good for sandwiches because it slices so well. Then again I like the naked cutlets because they lend themselves to other flavors so well. We usually have Tofurky for T-Day but too high fat this year.
  • Cottage, pleas hug the "girls" for me. I missed doing that because of the tall horses!
  • Quote: Cottage, pleas hug the "girls" for me. I missed doing that because of the tall horses!
    Will do, Ruthie!

Cyndi, thanks for the tips on the Quorn. Cooking it your way would have made it taste a lot better, I'm sure. I threw out the leftovers already.
  • I approach plain Quorn products the way I do tofu, as a template more than a final product. I do like the texture and it highlights other flavors but it's not much by itself. It's also just a high quality, low fat, low carb protein so worth using for me. OTOH the evil breaded, cheese stuffed cutlets are good but dangerous
  • Good morning!

Since we are confessing, my holiday eating was horrible. But I feel much better after a couple days back on PH1 to get that refined crap out of my system.

I'm off to the gym with my mom this morning but will modify so I don't risk aggravating whatever is going on with my calf. I guess I'll try to make an appointment with an orthopedic just to find out if I need to restrict activity on my coming vacation. Darn. And I'll probably skip cardio until I ask about that. I actually miss being able to exercise!!

Any cyber Monday shoppers out there? I did just order our holiday photo cards, but other than that nothing. I was hoping for better airfares for the boys coming home.

    Happy Monday!
  • good morning,

Debbie - trying to figure out what time you woke up my time. Hope you get a nab in

Mmc - I know what you mean by keeping a routine. I am trying to figure out my plan for Christmas.

Chickadee - hope you catch up on everything.

Cottage - there is always the phone to talk to Ruth. Have a nice day.

Chris - hoping your stress leaves you soon.

Cyndi - glad that you don't have to drive to the hospital. Good luck with the job applications.

Ruth - must have been a nice weekend with Cottage, glad you are safe at home.

Karen - Aren't airfares expensive right now. Hope you find a deal and calf gets better.

not much hear except every year we get a gift certificate from the company my DH retired from and this year it went a missing. I wonder if he phones whether we will get another one. Its for a major supermarket here and it helps to buy all those little things I never get otherwise.
    take care
    Sophie
