Hello from I have never been this heavy

  • No seriously I have never been this heavy at 192lbs in my life and it was time to change I want to get back down to the 130lbs and be fit again and at 23yrs I should going out having fun not miserable and embarrassed by how heavy I am
  • GobabyGoGO, have you had your thyroid tested? I was always very thin but over time gained about 70lbs and was so depressed about it. I finally had my thyroid tested and it was way off. While that just means it's harder to lose weight, treating it does give me energy to exercise more.

I started the South Beach diet 5 weeks ago and am so thrilled that I've dropped 11lbs so far! The key with sticking with it is planning each week for all meals. I don't even think about being on a diet anymore...I just eat better and have all the ingredients on hand for all my meals for the week. That makes all the difference.

There are a lot of great recipes on this site and many others for SB...not only do you lose weight but you just feel better since you're eating so much better. I've never eaten so much daily in my whole life...and yet the scale just keeps going down finally. Maybe it would work for you?
  • Btrflyl8e: I have had my thyroid tested and it works perfectly but I have issues with b12 and D my weight gain is related to a knee injury, bursitis on my heel, and plantar fasciitis but all of those issues are cleared up now that I don't work on concrete 8 hours a day
  • hi! i am also 23 and close to your weight (i'm 89kg/197lbs). i've been this heavy for about two years - i was diagnosed with a disorder and placed on medication and gained 20 kg (~40lbs) in 3 months! it didn't help that i was already not at an ideal weight before putting on the extra "med weight". anyway, after moaning about it for two years i've finally decided to do something about it and i'm now in my second week of calorie counting and exercise.

anyway, i just wanted you to know you're not alone! and welcome
  • You can do it!!!

I'm heavier than i have been in a long time at the moment, but committed to making some big changes!
  • thanks everyone I appreciate the support
  • First of all, welcome!

I'm new here too, and know exactly what you mean. I just turned 25, and feel like I wanna enjoy wearing cute clothes and going out. I just need to lose more before I can, but I have made a pretty big change so far, losing around 45-50 (need to weigh tomorrow, since whenever I start slipping I conveniently forget to weigh for too long) It was almost at -60lbs but I have slipped this past month

Anyway, even with my slip up, I was able to wear a super cute, pretty tight fitting halloween costume, and the reaction I got from a few friends, and a few different guys I hadn't seen in a while, was a good reminder to get back on track.

    We can both do it!!
